What was the purpose of the lvl? I see the collar ties were added, trying to do something similar. Lvls in my case would be to hold the walls together, was curious if thats the case here

No. While added ceiling height is appealing and useful, this build is has compromised the building’s structural integrity. Additionally, it isn’t code-compliant. The only time collar ties(located in the upper third of the roof system) will suffice, in lieu of rafter ties(located in the lower third), is when a ridge beam is present. This build has only a ridge board. Non-structural ridge board: rafters attach to the sides at the peak(as seen in the video) Structural ridge beam: spans the length of the ridge and rafters sit atop All of that said, depending on the width of your shed, this may be fine for light-duty, uninhabited applications.
