I have a Hubsun 501S-S and have gone up to 1500 meters. Really enjoy your videos. Wished I could fly without gps as good as you...lol

You got so much more distance than any other reviewer got , WOW ! Must be good flying spot.

MJX R/C is Awesome. The Bugs 5W goes up in my appreciation thanks to your review Pete 👍

Very nice video. The digits 765 in the Bugs 22765D IP info stand for the camera frequency which is 5.765ghz. This is helpful for entering the frequency in goggles, FPV receivers, etc or simply just knowing what freq your Bugs 5 camera is broadcasting on..

Right on Pete, from the start I thought you would crack 1k distance.. That's awesome that the B5W can get out to nearly 1.2km..make you wonder why MJX only stayed 3-500m,i guess they don't want people flying it to far? Who knows.. Great stock distance range test and also Congrats on over 20k Subs my friend👍👍🍻

Also thanks for showing us all how to change the 2 wifi channels for the camera.

I was just thinking, that's wild how you can get past that 800m barrier limit of distance just by turning gps off flying in AH mode you gained another 1/4mile..thanks for the entertaining video Pete 👍

PerthWestOZ RC Thanks brother Dave :) The only thing disappointing is the camera. So far I’ve flown it twice and both times the camera wasn’t up to end user satisfaction. I’ve actually wasted a lot of battery power trying to connect to the WiFi network before the flight as it kept on disconnecting but I’m liking the distance and the flight times :) Cheers!!🍺🍺🍺

Good job Pete, that baby has some nice range.
@RCEscape6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Greg :) The only thing I don't like about this quad is the camera. They should have tossed the 5g wifi thing after the bugs2 fiasco and put the 5.8ghz which is more reliable fpv.

Nice video, very good range on the bugs👍

Awesome, thanks for the range test. Glad to see the b5w has the same range as his older brother the b2w, just wish they would have improved the camera. If MJX would add video stabilization like on the Bebop 2 and charge $250 or less for it, they would have a mega hit on their hands.
@RCEscape6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Eddie :) They really should get rid of this 5g wifi stuff and go 5.8ghz instead like the 6 and the 8 which works just fine all the time and you can use your own goggles to fly. It is nice to see it went the distance and it is a worry free flyer with them rth functions :)

what props can you suggest for the 5w? would the bugs 3pro pros be of any use as i think they are made to generate more thrust?
@puremaga176 жыл бұрын
Nice flight test! I'm still feeling the love for my Bugs 3 with the accessory 5.8ghz camera. no GPS but that's what my Solo's are for been out to 3km on both my Solo's packing the gimble and GoPro. But I love my Bugs 3 for FPV! I might have to grab a 5w after seeing this test tho, 👍
@RCEscape6 жыл бұрын
Thanks John :) The problem with flying a gps quad fpv is you can't fly through trees and stuff too far away since the rth will kick in so the bugs3 is better in that manner. This one should be a good one to cruize above the tree line and scope out the area :) It still does the rth even if the gps is turned off. I kind of wish the rth did not work when the gps is turned off so you don't get a sudden rise in altitude when it kicks in and hit the trees or whatever is above it at the time :)

so you need to have the a-c featured on your phone in order to connect to the camera right? is there are way to make it work with a phone wich does not allow it? i would love to use the cam but i do not see the point in buying a new phone for it

I have a Samsung T380 tablet that does not have a/c mode wi-fi. It does have n mode and connects to the Bugs 5W as long as I set the network settings (advanced settings) to the "Verbose" option. Good luck.

Can you bind a bugs 2 remote to a bugs 5w and try to max out its range again
@DeadlyDiddly6 жыл бұрын
No idea when they'd play down the range of the B5W unless they wanted to placate the FAA, but has the same guts as the B2 so why should it have less range? Great test again though Pete. 👌
@RCEscape6 жыл бұрын
Thanks man :) I'll have to open it up and see if it has the dual antennas like the b2 series but I'm guessing that it has just one since the b2 has no issues going the 999 without any interruptions but I'm just guessing here and don't want to really open this thing up! lol :) I'll wait till the fc board is available to be sure! hehe!

Man, impressive distance with this one👍🏻 I live in an urban area and my experience varies with my Bugs TXs. I can cover about 300/375meters, so I think they post realistic range specs depending on your flying locations. Congratulations on over 20k subs Pete👏🏻
@RCEscape6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve :) Perhaps that is MJX's intentions to post less than the actual performance values instead of the opposite way around. The Bugs 3pro however is posting 600-800 meters which sounds about right for the B5W but there is the 999 meter threshold on the remote just like the bugs2 series and that is more than enough distance to cruize around the park :)

nice one pete! we can still mount either the mobi mini or the q6 camera on the belly and still be able to aim for the perfect shots/video using the AIO,,,AAAAIIOOO!

Yup! I like flying with the aio vtx. The camera should have been an option so we can buy the drone by itself.

I have the same quad. I love it but the wifi video only goes out to about 300m before it start to be really laggy and freezes , but the control distance I got out to 800 m with no video
@keithhenderson57886 жыл бұрын
Awesome range! It still beats me why MJX would make an aircraft with 1000m range and then stick a WiFi FPV camera on it that will hardly cover one tenth of that distance (if you're lucky). The camera really lets it down. Nice review thanks.
@RCEscape6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Keith :) That is the downfall of this quad with its 5g wifi that don't work most of the time and when it does work, it even has a lag. They should stick to the 5.8ghz like the 6 and the 8 bugs series.

Great distance in fairly optimum conditions. Other than for testing purposes, would you fly out that far in regular use? How many others would? Obviously I wouldn't because to do so here in the UK would take it beyond VLOS and that would, of course, be very naughty indeed ;) :D
@RCEscape6 жыл бұрын
lol!!! nobody cares about anything here in the US especially where I live with tons of open spaces but I would not fly that far normally instead I usually situate myself in the middle of a park and fly around the park and this quad is perfect for that :)
@KenKneknaneek6 жыл бұрын
What if you went higher in altitude when it lost signal if it would have gone further?
@RCEscape6 жыл бұрын
Actually, I was noticing that it went further when flying lower the second time and when I went up in altitude to remove the vtx snow, it started to beep and thus rth. Maybe it needs to be flown under the radar!! lol

point me in the right direction drone obstacle avoidance sensor kits along with directions.
@davyliyang6 жыл бұрын
Just some insight for this drone. I know because I live in China and talked to their custom support. The flight height distance is because in china, Drone were regulated to fly below 150m. Any higher would require licence. They restricted their drone for the purpose of a bigger market. Not because of technical limitation.
