This is the best "bad" movie ever made. I love this flick. It's great goofy fun. It is disappointing to hear that those who made the film, most notably King himself, don't like it. I personally think that it works on a couple of different levels. First, as the goofy fun popcorn flick that it is. But you can take it seriously, if you can set aside the logical issues.

I don't know, there's quite a few that could vie for the honor lol. As to king not liking it, he's just being honest. He was coked out of his brain back then, and I give him props for laughing at himself. There's too many people these days that would do similar but try to claim people just didn't get their genius. It is bad. But it's also fun to watch. To me, mission accomplished. Edit: holy hell. There is someone else on this planet that's seen phantom of the park? I thought I was the only one. 😂

I’m a big fan of this movie and have watched it many times over the years. Yes, it’s cheesy in some regards but still manages to have some genuine scare factor. Being that it was released in 1986 when I was a senior in high school might have something to do with it. Kind of nostalgic when I watch it. The 1980s was an awesome decade to be a teenager in! Honestly, is this movie really that ‘goofy’??? I suppose it has a fair share of silly moments but a kid gets run over by a steamroller, the lead kids dad dies and is left an orphan, and the scene of the kid driving through the neighborhood where everyone is dead is pretty effective too. I always thought there was enough genuine dread to make this more than just another goofy horror movie.

Loved this movie since I first saw it as a kid, never understood the hate at all. Some people I really think forget the most important aspect of a movie and that is does it entertain. And this movie sets that entertaining tone and tells you all about how the movie will play out the moment the ATM calls King an Asshole. If after that you are trying to scrutinize every little thing and take it as a serious film instead of the pure turn off the brain popcorn and beer flick it is, then maybe it is you and not the movie. And to top it all off the soundtrack by AC/DC is great as well, Who Made Who is an incredibly underrated song in my opinion.

Great information. I was very curious about this movie. Directors say, "Most important is story and casting." But there is one more important. 'Choice of subject'. Sucks a lot of the gore was taken out like the big splash of blood on the steamroller. Nothing of the deleted scenes could be found for the Blu-Ray according to the guy who did the features for it. They did find some behind the scenes footage of them checking out the bus with the plane in it. But not the scene itself. The head owned by Tim Shockey he had restored and been at conventions. Also, the head used in the trailer was the backup head. But it's rotting away in storage. There is a video here on KZbin a guy has the military Mule from the film. The gun & other parts were not with it, but it had the motor for the gun turning. Just saw on Facebook on image of the tow truck running over a Dixie Boy sign today. Also, someone notice a car behind Deke just before the Ice Cream truck in a picture. Maybe they had a car sneak up behind him or something and decided not to they guessed. Also the machine gun boat chasing them idea would have been neat to see.
