This is 100% in my top #1 to must watch. I fell in love with this movie probably way too young, considering the truck gave me nightmares at 5. I don't care how Steven King feels about directing this movie, or how Emilio Estevezs feels about staring in it. This movie has gold.

Damn too bad Stephen King didn’t do a whole behind the scenes video I’m genuinely curious how they got the trucks to drive by themselves I used to think they were photoshopped out but even in this behind the scene you can clearly see the goblin truck has no driver it’s creepingly awesome how they were able to accomplish this in the 80s
@theillgerm82963 жыл бұрын
i just watched something a bit before seeing this about the Mule (the gun cart thing that beeps in Morse code) where a guy who worked on the movie explained that they had extended controls that allowed them to sit behind a curtain and drive the trucks without being seen and in the case of the mule they lifted it up a few inches from what it came as and had someone laying inside of it.

Alot of truck windows were extra tinted as well, you can see the drivers on rare occasions like arms and such

It's also interesting to note,that one of the two Stunt drivers who drove the Green Goblin truck was Carey Loftin...He was also the guy who drove the semi truck in the movie "Duel"

The beginning parts looks like a scene where Bill and Brett investigate the school bus with the airplane crashed into it you briefly glimpse later when Happy Toyz drives by. I've long heard it was filmed but later cut both to speed up the ending and ensure it didn't get an X rating (I think there were supposed to be dead kids inside the bus).
@Blacktooth-yr7ck2 жыл бұрын
It was supposed to show the dead driver in the front seat.

Sucks they cut the scene of them looking inside the bus. Supposedly you see the dead bus driver inside.
@PlanetMars20302 ай бұрын
@therush420 yeah he was rotting in his seat. Bill also comes across dead children lying in their seats as he checks the eisel.

That old Western Star with that Detroit Diesel. Those old steel body Western stars are almost non existent now. What a shame the two Western Stars used for the happy toys truck were scrapped.

How do you know for sure they were scrapped?
@mintyman19682 жыл бұрын

@mintyman19682 жыл бұрын
@@TeamPaidToDrive wasn’t in the minds of the producers in 1986 or 85 🤷♂️ scrapped right after filming. If I recall the red Autocar and the blue and black transtars were scrapped as well. The IBC and two Thurston trucks were returned to the companies and were still working in the late 90’s. Who knows what happened to those trucks afterwards.

I’ve always wanted to find behind the scene pictures of the trucks and how they where fitted. I know you can’t rig a RC unit up to a semi with a manual transmission. I did see one picture of inside the 67 White 9000 series tow truck where they removed the passenger seat and fitted a steering wheels and pedals in the floor. I always noticed the Triple T mudflaps on multiple trucks used. I m guess that was a used truck dealer they probably bought a bunch of wholesale worn out trucks for cheap. Those truck could easily have 500,000 plus miles on them.

They aren't very fuel efficient. That flat front is a natural wind resistant. They are also not very safe in a head on. They are a pain in the ass to repair and not very comfortable sitting on top of the engine. My very first truck was an International cabover. It was the same model was the one driving the BIC truck in the movie. A few years ago I saw a guy with a cabover at a truck stop. To do any maintenance you have to lift the cab and tilt it to get to the engine. Well that's what he did and his laptop shot through his windshield.

@@joshteshek1155 No it actually looks like that scene when the truck drives by and then drives out of there, but in the movie everything is destroyed behind the truck, in this shot nothing has been hit yet. I know they can edit a lot of stuff after filming, but I thought the same thing, that it was that shot too.
