You know, when you are raiding with your ruler you have a really high chance (based on dev of your capital vs dev of raided province) to roll an event that allows you to capture skilled slaves and increase development progress by 20. So if you roll this event 5 times you get a dev point. It's actually quite easy to do if you raid Italy or Byzantium where there is a lot of high dev provences. I have been able to get 1 dev per year like this, which is faster than any steward. Raiding for dev is much faster, but only if there is a large area at a higher development than you. Once you catch up, you no longer get the skilled slave choice. So naturally you simply move your capital to a low dev County and begin again. So as a pagan, you can just focus on raiding juicy capitals to build development faster than anyone else. In the process, you gain massive amounts of gold and prestige, and weaken all the realms around you. Obviously, the best way to increase dev is skilled slaves if you min max it. I can make Sardinia eclipse Rome in the first 50 years without a steward using raiding cheese.

Another dumb mistake to do with tribal gvmnt is to build economic buildings! Waist of space. What you want is all military buildings. Stronger dudes, more of them and... raid raid raid for that sweet prestige and you gonna swim in gold with nothing to do with it!

Artifacts have flat monthly development modifiers ranging from 0.01 to 0.24. It will increase it, but the UI will only show you the first decimal.

Because your military is bigger than his, you're making him look small, so the correct usage would be "We dwarf him by comparison."

Just wanted to mention that the term is "I couldn't care less" not, "I could care less". The latter implies that there is still room for you to care less, meaning you care more. God, this is such an awesome way to do development. I noticed in my last tall playthrough that neighboring counties don't get hit with the max development penalty, since that only occurs when a steward develops the county. This is like that, but on steroids. The 20% boost for all cities + all those tradeports + guilds + hills makes it feel like steward development is actually kind of a waste, which is awesome, because it means they can now be used for merging cultures and yoinking something like cataphracts from other cultures. Never even considered how the bonuses could get so insane that passive development gain would be enough to propel a county well past all others.

btw I don't know if it's a bug or intended but the Guanche Culture has West African Canoes even though they are not in western Africa. This means you can Raid Paris and Cordoba directly which is an easy 80g per capital

Hi, I have tried this a number of times and always get as far as getting parts of Sardinia then various Duchies gang up on me to throw me out of Murcia, and/or various North African countries collectively throw me out of Tangiers/Ceuta. The weakness of the Canaries is they have no natural allies. If I only have 2 kids to avoid Succession issues, then I have no spares for Alliances.

Whenever I try to increase my court grandeur, the game crashes unless I wait between button clicks to make sure the slot gets filled. If I just quickly change the different traits quickly, game dies. It happens every time.
