Woah! This is the one American adult, whose favorite sport is soccer, making his case to the world. I don't know if that's the cross I'd want to die on, but more power to him. He is pissed, and everyone in the soccer community will feel his wrath!

I dont think a lot of people would admit this but Hope Solo is absolutley right when she criticized the way US soccer builds players. If she were the US soccer president we might actually get to a point where we can compete.

And what do you know? Taylor Twellman's rant started off the USMNT's changes that led them to the success since that fateful night on October 10, 2017 including being back on the FIFA World Cup stage in Qatar 2022. 2018 is now a distant memory.

What are we doing Taylor? Simple. US Soccer is catering to the MLS, that is what we are doing. MLS, for lack of a better way to put it, STILL SUCKS. "oh but they've improved!" "What about TAM!" Well, how did the last MLS team get eliminated from the last CCL tournament, AGAIN. Monterrey 10 - Sporting KC 2 (in two legs). Berhalter, who still has an allegiance to MLS, thinks his tactics will make up for his inclusion of more MLS players at the USMNT. I seriously doubt it. So, there you have it Taylor. The more MLS players we call up to play with the USMNT and less players that play in Europe, the more we set back the USMNT program by years.
@MaxlrFootball5 жыл бұрын
MLS is drastically improving, and I believe that if stronger MLS teams were placed into the CCL, for example, LAFC, then they would do much better. In my opinion, we need to find the right balance between homegrown MLS players and European players, since quality can come from both. Some great examples of this are Tyler Adams, Zack Steffen, and DeAndre Yedlin. (All players who moved from the MLS to Europe, Steffen is moving later this year) Of course, there are so many options from Europe who haven't had much time with the NT, players such as Novakovich and Sargent. Once we find the right balance between the two, our team will be successful.

@@MaxlrFootball I think what you were trying to say is that American players in the MLS that qualify to play in Europe AND are in the process of moving there, OR the current players that play in Europe, should be the regulars with the national team. If so, I totally agree. Will Trapp, in my opinion, is another player that should be in the process of trying to get picked up by a European club ASAP. Any players that play in the MLS because they can't play in Europe, SHOULD NOT be called up to the national team. My advice is to at least try Mexico like Gomez or Beasley did. They would be better off.

Even if the USMNT qualified for Russia 2018, I highly doubt they would get out of the group stages given the fact that Bruce Arena will rely on veterans instead of youth and the USMNT's European soil FIFA World Cup record of 0W-1D-9L is atrocious. The USMNT does well in non-European soil FIFA World Cups except Brazil 1950.

People like Pulisic and Bobby Wood did good in qualifying and it's not just about the game against Trinidad that showed how bad we were. Remember we almost lost to Honduras and would've been in even more trouble against Trinidad if we lost that game but luckily Bobby Wood scored for us but we still couldn't get the job done against Trinidad. Our bum of a captain Bradley didn't help us at all and Tim Howard really needs to leave
