The stanley is a solid set for sending with your kid to college. I have had some close calls with cheap drill bits. Generally I prefer to spend more on ratchets and drill bits and then save on other things like sockets and wrenches. The can of bits is funny I will admit.

Liquid bandages are amazing for cuts where a bandaid isn’t viable. For instance I was at a house for work replacing windows. One of the guys grabbed a window off the back of the truck and whacked me in the ear. I began bleeding really bad but liquid bandage sealed it right up. So I highly recommend getting some and keeping them around just in case.

Great treasure hunt mate. The drill bits & gear ties caught our eye. We don't have Tractor Supply here in Australia but we do have Bunnings which is a huge hardware store, think they're USA owned.? We do have variety shops that sells budget trademan's tool. Reckon you should wander into Aldi for some gems. Cheers for the vid matey.

Had those drill set in a can similar to beer in Lidl for a couple of years. For me it's a cool piece but not exactly shop usable. For home owner or a flat/building to have in a tool bag or in a cabinet by the shoes 😊

so with these in mind, I thought I have most of these as a multitool from a name brand but I'm reminded that people say having a tool like a pair of pliers, a screwdriver etc is better than owning a multitool even from someone like gerber or leatherman, can you shed some light on why I would be better off getting stuff like these rather than a multitool which will cost far below all of these combined?
@simonh6371
@simonh6371 Жыл бұрын
Firstly it's about physics and stress distribution. A pair of forged pliers doesn't have a weak point, those on a multitool have a weak point where the head is connected to the handles. Same goes for drivers etc. Secondly you can work on things with 2 tools, like hold something with the pliers and unscrew it. Name branded multitools are not cheap. Even in the US you pay $120 for a Wave, or $80 for a Rebar. I have a Rebar btw and it's a great multitool. But you can definitely buy a pair of pliers, 2 flathead screwdrivers, a Phillips driver, 2 knives, a file and a woodsaw for the same money or less and they will be bigger and stronger, and you can even buy better quality than the tools you see here. Myself I buy ''vintage'' tools, often ''old new stock'' so unused. Some is old and made in West Germany so pre 1990, or my Bahco 8 in adjustable is made in Sweden, a model from the 70s, used but as good as new and the fact that they are still in good condition speaks for their durability. I'm in the UK btw so European vintage tools are easier to come by here (on ebay) but conversely you can get vintage made in the USA tools cheaper and easier in the USA than here in Europe. Just for fun I looked now, I can get quality old stock Swedish file, new Bahco woodsaw (obviously bigger than on a multitool), vintage forged USA made needlenose pliers and vintage West German Draper screwdriver set (2 Phillips, 2 slotheads) for £34 incl p&p, a Rebar here costs more than double that. So with the remaining £38 I can buy a new Victorinox Pioneer knife (1 blade, 1 reamer, bottle & can opener) and a Stanley retractable locking blade, or a locking blade Opinel. Just an example and obviously I shop around and buy bargains when I see them. My advice is stick with your good multitool if you already have one - I mean Leatherman or Victorinox because most Gerber and SOG multitools are made in the Far East nowadays - and bit by bit buy some quality or mid-range tools when you see them for a good price.

Those stanley pliers are great to throw in a bag to keep in a vehicle in case of emergency. Is it the same as Kobalt or Milwaukee, heck no. But will it get you home or to a garage, yes if you know what you're doing.

that knive looks *terrible*. under ten dollars, you can buy an opinel. it's 28 grams (1 ounce this puts it in super elaborate skeletonised handle knive territory, but it's just a simple beech wood handle), 6cm or 2.3" blade, solid locking mechanism, xc90 steel, which is alright, you can put a razor edge on it. why why why would anyone even consider these god awful department store knives if the opinels exist?!

@@markifi £9 Sterling here in the UK but they may well be more expensive in the US. However I'm the biggest fan of European knives and tools but the Opinel is a top knife for carving wood and cutting food, and a whole lot of other tasks, but not for maybe beating on it as the blade is very thin. These cheap locking knives don't take such a good edge but they are good beaters. I had an Opinel 20 years ago and lent it to someone for a minute, but didn't realise the idiot was going to use it to open a can. He gave it back to me with a messed up blade and I think I had to chuck it after that. The shit knife you see in this vid would probably have survived that.

not one is a good buy. Its all junk. The little screwdriver might work. But as all the other only if you nearly never use it. And a fist screwdriver...I nearly never use it. I only have it in my case because I in the one case in the year I need it. And that's what this junk is good for. If you kids or friends want to use them at home...you turn out to be the most hated person in your friend bubble. Better no gifts than junk gifts. And a "Soda" Can Container? So you are telling your kids to become alcoholics? Or are you telling your friends they are alcoholics? Both messages are terrible messages you hand out. But really. What makes me crazy about this shit toy is that it wastes so much space. I think it could hold twice the amount of bits. You say "it doesn't feel so good...but only for 5 bucks". What you did was burning 5 bucks. Give the money to a homeless and your children, your friends won't hurt themselves with the tools you gave them. But maybe I'm wrong. So why not testing it? And seeing how it falls apart. Find it funny....you say the best buy was the Beer Bit can. Damn alcoholics 🤣
@simonh6371

Lol I don't think he needs to use this stuff but he makes vids like this for a living now I think so that involves buying all kinds of stuff including tat like this, to show his viewers. I wouldn't buy those pliers either, you can actually pick up vintage pliers for a couple of pounds where I live if you shop around on ebay, made in the UK or Germany, still not as cheap as these here but way better. As to the soda can...soda is pop/vrisdrank/bebida carbonada or whatever they call it in your country...not an alcoholic drink.
