You lads make it look so easy controlling these machines! I've recently become a proud owner of a 5T with the 26cc engine & admit I am a little scared of wrecking it. The power to weight is unbelievable & they are far from easy to control straight off the bat 😂 I was very lucky to have got mine for next to nothing pre owned with absolutely no use whatsoever due to the previous owner connecting the receiver power reverse polarity frying everything 🤑 New receiver fitted & everything was fixed except for the engine not wanting to run as the piston ring had seized on the piston from being in the weather. Dropped the head off along with removing the piston ring to clean it & reasonably seen the engine come to life 😍 I am literally feeling like a kid again playing with big boys toys 👌🏼 $300 is what my machine owes me to date with my first attempt of having fun on 4/4/2020

Tip of the day: if you want your engine to last, forget Malossi. Go with Athena in stead. Cheaper, and lasts longer. My brother had an Athena 70cc on his Gilera Runner SP scooter. It kept running and running and running, for around 30.000 km before it got stolen... Some other friends ran similar setups with Malossi Hyper Racing cylinders and they had to replace them after about 1000km because they'd be all wallered out. Horsepower was very close between them. Endurance not so much.

@@RCmaxxUK well, I highly recommend you don't... Especially with the MHR cylinders, you'll spend as much time under the scooter as on it. Athena seems to have the best bang-per-buck ratio. If you have a bit more to spend, Gilardoni might be interesting. They have some cylinders where you can replace the inner nickosil sleeve when it's worn out, and they allow for a bit higher revving than the Athena. About 50% more expensive, though. And higher revving also means you'll wear out your crankshaft a lot sooner. I'd be inclined to say, if you want to win drag races, go for Gilardoni. If you want it to keep running reliably, go with Athena. Added benefit : if you tune it for lower revving, it also saves a LOT of fuel. My brother's scooter topped out at about 120 km/h but it only drank a litre of fuel in 25, 28 km. He ran it with a 17,5mm DeLorto carb and a Malossi red sponge in the standard air box. If you put a little 2stroke oil on the filter sponge, it helps keep the dust out your engine and thus also helps longevity. Also, if you're going to tune it up, don't forget to also get some performance break pads. If you want to ride fast, you must also be able to brake fast. Good luck.
