I love this bag and actually have 2. One for everyday and the other for hiking. Other day bags I've had were easy to overload but I wanted to focus on what I really used and when considering my essentials, this was a perfect size.

Reminds me of MP's Sitka Gearslinger, only smaller. Those one-strap packs are nice as long as they're not too heavy. Not being able to swap shoulders when carrying is a major drawback, IMHO.

Been carrying Malaga every single day now for almost 2 years. Not one complaint about it. I also have two other Maxpedition pieces, and like them too. Even use one as my baby bag! I wouldnt hesitate purchasing more Maxpedition products.

To clarify, the Sitka was unable to swap sides, which is why I got rid of it. Good to see the Malaga doesn't suffer the same problem.

condor is a more economical choice when choosing bags, having both maxpedition bags and condor bags I've noticed that they are of very similar quality. just keep in mind that you should learn how to fix zippers and stitchings. it goes a long way for long term gear usage, no matter the quality any bag will wear out at stitched stress points and zippers. hope this helps!

Great review, as always! :) Question: Is it possible to carry A4-size papers in a folder inside the Malaga (preferably in the large inside pouch in the main compartment)? I read somewhere that it's tight and the papers get damaged, especially corners. UPDATE: I was told by a reviewer on Amazon that legal pad can fit this bag. Cool.

I find that without the sternum strap, my gear slinger quickly turns into a butt pack, or hip pack, even with a fairly lite load. Since I find I need both straps connected to carry it comfortably, I don't find this style of pack much more usefull than a standard back pack simply slung over one shoulder.

I'm not really much of a fan of any one strap bags, yes I do see the benefits of one strap but I do see one major problem is that if its always on the same shoulder then if that shoulder gets sore then you are out of luck, with a two strap bag the problem is only the access to the gear but again with the shoulder pain problems, then when it gets to "3 strap" which is what I call a two strap with a waist strap, which is my preference mainly for long trekking but I will take a look at a one strap

Great bag, great review. Question, why would you have a firearm in a bag that’s carried on your back where you have no site on the firearm? All it takes is for some knucklehead with the knife and cut that bag off and now has access to your firearm, trying to understand why?

I have some Maxpedition products, Lunada, Vulture II, Proteus, mag pouches, pocket organizers ... kind of a bag nut. I have noticed that you need to look at reviews on Amazon. I like maxpedition, but they have honesty issues on their main site ... they only post the five star reviews, so buyer be ware. Wondered if it was just me, but I have heard rumblings about about the company attacking sites with anything but positive reviews (edcforum), but what do I know. :)

Its junk to in my experience. I have used at least three of their packs in the military and none of them could handle the usage. Grab handles broke the most.

maxped is garbage. I have had a few of their packs and because of how they stitch the straps, the handles usually rip out. I recommend tactical tailor. Made in the US, better quality, and less expensive.
