My get home will only be 10 miles. I'm not planning an over night trip. There won't be any time for campfires, fishing or snaring small animals. I'm going to be hoofing it as fast as possible. I want to carry as light as I can with only the things I'll need to make it home to my family. Pack and unpack your bag often and you'll find you can make it home with less items.
@Greatgadgetsgear6 жыл бұрын
Mad Maxx This is true you can go lighter, much lighter. This is for far longer treks and not knowing what you’ll run into in your rush to get home. Since these bags must be tailored to your personal situation, physical conditioning and knowledge this is more of a general idea kit to pick and choose from. Plus you description would be a 5 min video and what fun is that to watch? Lol. Point taken though thanks

Maybe I missed it but there's gotta be room for a folded bit of duct tape in there. Liked the kit very much. Think you should plan a way to carry the water, whether clipping on an empty bottle or that platypus bag you have. Water has to be/go with you always, even in areas with lots of streams, ponds, etc. Still, great kit, liked your presentation style. Oh, I too took a chance on the Coghlan's saw. Was surprised how well it works and for a care emergency-kit, with contents I mostly hope not to use, going for value often makes sense.
@Greatgadgetsgear8 жыл бұрын
Duct tape yup forgot it in glove box! As far as water goes that too is in the car a case of it, but the maxpedition dump pouch works great as a water carrier. I always have a metal bottle of water with me where ever I go. Thanks for the comments. Yeah that saw was ok for this kit but got the best saw for my woods kit the sliky gomboy what a sharp great saw!! Glad you enjoyed the video.

Great review. Love this back pack. I bought one last year as my combo, get home bag/bug out bag. Made some mods to it so I can attach my sleeping bag on the bottom where the shock cord is. And attached a waist strap to it too. It holds plenty and for the same reason as you, forced to keep this type of bag lighter in weight. Although I could pack about 25lbs worth of stuff in it and another 10 (or more) lbs to the outside of it, I keep it under 20lbs.

Great gadgets & gear! No, I don't have a review. I just figured there are plenty of reviews out there. I guess I should do one and show the modifications I did to my bag. Thanks for the encouragement! :-)

I know I am 5 years late but maybe the mesh front on the Eagle claw bag (was that the name) was for a water kit.. you wanna let those air out after use. @@Greatgadgetsgear honestly, I'm not complaining. In reality, you will never need those gears to survive. Most worse-case scenarios are imaginary!! And even if something goes wrong all you need is your skills.

@bardia karbalaei. Yes you are right IMO. I would probably add few packs of freeze dried food or any sort of army dry rations, emergency heat reflecting blanket/sleeping bag ie sol emergency bivvy, waterproof clothes and warm packable fleece or any warm top and you pretty much can survive few days without any problem.

I’d ditch the streamlight and find something more reliable. I’ve owned two of those and a strion and had problems with all three. I replaced my tail cap on my strion and having issues again. Complete junk.
@Greatgadgetsgear4 жыл бұрын
whatfreedom7 Never had an issue with my streamlight to this day. Keep in mind gear changes and evolves in time. Things from past videos are relevant in that time. I’m working on a current bag since things change. Sorry you had trouble with your gear guess I just got a good one.

If you are walking home, why would you need to change a tire? If you are driving, why carry all of that stuff? Or take the time to go fishing? Too much stuff! You've got a small fortune invested in that bag. How much does it weigh? Everything looks brand new, even the pack, have you used any of it, or are you just an armchair or tabletop reviewer? I checked out your videos and I see that you are a reviewer, not a user...a true outdoorsman would need much much less. The more you know, the less you carry.
@Greatgadgetsgear5 жыл бұрын
Robert Winkler Well duh. But those would make pretty short dull reviews. Seems like your bored trolling complaining tearing down other people who you know jack about? Maybe you should get a hobby? Like an outdoors man lol. I know who I am and what I do and don’t feel the need to explain or justify to rude viewers. Don’t like my channel based on your wrong snap judgements?? Go to another channel....
@RobertFireLionBlueHawkWinkler5 жыл бұрын
@@Greatgadgetsgear Because I ask questions and point out the obvious, that makes me a boring troll? Seems that you cannot handle criticism. BTW, I've been an outdoorsman for over 60 years so I know of what I speak. Grow a spine and realize that some people see you for what you are.

Robert Winkler Listen gramps these videos are for entertainment. It’s not about the questions you ask it’s your rude attitude and judging someone you don’t even know. Yes I get new free products all the time from companies I’ve been loyal to for the last 35 years. Just because you don’t agree with how I do things you don’t have to be a jerk about it. I’ve been camping hiking mountain biking and the list goes on since I was 10. Yup you can survive on less yes knowledge gets you farther than gear but people like gear and gadget reviews I get so many item to test and try that yes I don’t always get the chance to use and abuse them all. Don’t judge people by a video it’s rude an not accurate anyway. Please enjoy other outdoor channels and gear reviews. Your opinion is just that your opinion. Get over yourself. Have a nice day
@johnnymedina9464 жыл бұрын
The more you know the less you carry applies only to the poor, unprepared, or to the arrogant as history constantly illustrates... Although well versed in surviving minimalistically, I've lived off the land for years but was ALWAYS well prepared to thrive. Test yourself but dont be stupid...
@slippery9994 жыл бұрын
To be fair his questions are not unreasonable. You say he’s rude but yet you call him “gramps” and are sarcastic in your reply: “well d’uh”. As a reviewer you are entitled to your opinion but you must expect that there will be those who may disagree with that opinion. You would have had more impact if you had refrained from the rather childish name calling and sarcasm and acknowledged his points and argued your case or just agreed to disagree. In choosing to react as you did you just come across as overly defensive and that perhaps you don’t really know what you’re talking about.
@smellnino10 жыл бұрын
Cool bag but honestly most of the contents are unnecessary and wasteful. A lot of unneeded extra weight and a lot of packaging that would result in tons of litter. In a get home situation you don't want to be carrying all that crap. I guarantee you won't use more than half of it.
@kkcoor9 жыл бұрын
It depends a lot on what the bag is for, this is their emergency gear storage bag as opposed to a bushcraft kit or Inch bag. I have a very similar bag as well almost the same gear. I also have my Inch bag which is very different built more around long term sustainability. This is a great kit.
