This is really an excellent review. If you want to avoid conflicts with your WiFi consider using the 4 and 5 settings on both the transmitter and receiver. Most WiFi frequencies and other device frequencies are going to fall into the #1 settings by default. I think the 4 and 5 settings and eliminate or minimize the the risk. It's worth considering and I hope this helps. Thank you so very much for your review.

Not all "professionals" play in large, venues, stadiums or auditoriums. I play very small venues, thus am not concerned too much about latency, nor LOS connectivity. I do, however, delight in the potential to be almost totally wireless with the versatility of two Xvive U2 (Dual) units combined with an Xvive U3 wireless mic system. While I have not yet tried it, I intend to adapt a U2 system to transmit my backing tracks to my amp, along with any three of my instruments, such as guitar, mandolin or keyboard. Most current power packs for wireless instruments are cumbersome and difficult to position anywhere without some kind of motion interference. This combination will allow me to only need a single power cord, which will be used to power my amplifier. Thank you for such a thorough and comprehensible review of what I deem to be a cutting edge tool for musicians.

You address the one thing that no other reviewer does. The noise this wireless system makes is absolutely grating. I've tried everything I could think of to cut down on it, but to no avail. Barring a noise gate, I don't think there's anything else I can do to help with that.

Another great review! I am now using Lekato 5.8 ghz wireless that I found on Amazon at the best price. Works very well at about a third the price of these. Also, right now getting just over 5 hours on a charge, although the receiver lasts a bit longer as expected. Sound quality with no noticeable degradation, no dropouts or interference, and build quality is good. Keep up the good work!

OK, so I bought one. Used it 6 or 7 times and it operated flawlessly. The 8th time there was a small glitch and I ignored it. The 9th time it completely cut out from about 30 feet away. After that it just sputtered if I moved a foot. Wow, talk about embarrassment on the bandstand but after some testing I learned a valuable lesson. Always make sure your battery is charged before a performance.

Oh good, I was getting worried, reading this - until the end. I just bought a pair yesterday, you see! Btw.. have you noticed the highs are a bit brittle, and harsh? I'm finding I need to roll my tone knob back - and that goes for my LP aswell as my Strat...and PRS, for that matter. I pretty have never used my tone knobs until now! Other than that, how do you find the overall sound quality?

Excellent review, thank you. I have been using the Xvive U2 system for a little over a year now (over 100 gigs). I wish I could say that I have never had dropouts, but that wouldn't be true. The amount of dropouts are very small and when taking the initial cost of the device into account, I think they are insignificant. Your review has clarified a lot of points for me. Thank you again.

This is the most thorough review of wireless guitar systems that I've come across on KZbin. That said, I bought & have these direct from China A-8 transmitter/receiver that operate on 730 Mhz UHF signals. The upside to that is they don't use the 2.4/5 Ghz frequency that a cable modem/router broadcasts with, even the wireless handset telephone systems or anything else that is a2.4 Ghz frequency. The A-8's were $ 22 delivered thru an Amazon purchase. A friend has the XVIVE U2's and his are dead silent. That's a luck of the draw, hit & miss with even the XVIVE U2's from this test. Reviewer gets about 15 dB of noise and that's a whisper level of noise if you research noise dB levels online, but not annoying enough just the same & not dead silent like my friend's U2's. That said, even these XVIVE U2's are far quieter than the A-8's. The A-8's I have are noisy af. You can play with the gain and set that low at 1-2 with overdrive and live with these for practice sessions at max volume, but it's not neary loud enough cleaner to gig with. On clean without overdrive, then you have to set the volume where the noise isn't going to be annoyingly overwhelming for the A-8's as well and that's around a volume setting of 2-3 on the amp itself. I'm using the A-8's on a PYLE PVAMP 60W amp and it's a noisy amp instrument corded compared to the brand names that pretty much every Music store sells. But we tested the A-8's on a VOX & Yamaha practice level amps and it made no difference in the noise and even the guitars used. The A-8's will do everything and even be noisier with max volume. Perhaps you could gig with the A-8's and drive enough music to overwhelm the noise the A-8's make, but it's still going to be unwanted/undesirable distortion. So the A-8's are a low volume output, low gain alternative to cables for practice purposes only. I was hoping to see in the dismantling of the U2's that there would be some screwdriver type adjustment that one could phase the transmitter and receiver to eliminate that noise, but I didn't see one from the video review and I don't want to dismantle the A-8's and destroy them for a $ 22 bet that may or may not work. For now the A-8's work, just not as silently as my expectations are/were for them. And when I read reviews of the A-8's, even the U2's there are enough complaints in the negative & lower rated reviews for noisy wireless guitar systems. So that tells me it was hit & miss for noise vs silent products. Oh well, my hope was to be wireless primarily, use the instrument cord as a backup. Instead the instrument cord is the best quality and the wireless is a practice only & in a pinch for gigging alternative.

Great, very thorough review. Many thanks. But as Jan Koppe pointed out in his comment below, and as many other reviews, comments and videos I have read and watched say, the U2 Xvive seem to be the most problematic of the wireless guitar units because they cut out, and are susceptible to interference when there are others around. At the moment, because I am not willing to spend more than about US $350, I am going to try the Boss WL-20, which reviews say is not prone to the same kinds of problems that the Xvive is.

Awesome review, as always! I'm still thinking the 2.4 Ghz systems are unsuitable for real live use. They all work perfectly in test conditions, but at my venue I've seen sooo many guitarists with different 2,4ghz systems having issues. I always warn them before soundcheck, that they will not have a good time with those things. At soundcheck everything works fine, but: As soon as people get into the venue, they will bring their smartphone along. And heres the thing - Even though you are obviously not connected to the wifi with your smartphone, your phone will still block a small portion of the 2,4ghz spectrum by actively searching for your home wifi. Suddenly you have total chaos on those frequencies, even though everybodys wifi is "off". And I've yet to see any review replicate this at all. Low and behold: Massive dropouts, every time. They scramble to find a guitar cable after the second or third song.
@MaxSoloMusic6 жыл бұрын
Which means your venue is perfect for testing 2.4 Ghz wireless systems! I wish I had a place like that nearby

I have three transmitters and the receiver. I use several guitars and it's really convenient as you turn one off and turn the next one on. It's that simple and I don't have to unplug and plug in any of the guitars I'm using. I started using channel 4 because another guitar player in our band has been using channel 1. I got a pretty bad amount of interference and drop outs on channel 4. I switched to channel 3 at rehearsal tonight and it worked fine. I have a fairly big show Saturday so that will be the test. We're now using channels 1, 2 & 3 in our band. I hope it works. Has anyone else had any problems with channel 4?

Incredible work once more! Would love it if you could do a latency shootout between the G70 and the Shure GLXD16
@MaxSoloMusic6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, that should be easy. Anyone here has contact to Shure?
@RulesRedefined6 жыл бұрын
Max Solo Music - Thanks. I have seen people on the internet swear by the Shure GLXD 16 as one of the most reliable wireless systems out there but the latency of the G70 seems so much lesser than any other wireless system on the market. I use a lot of pitch shifting effects and drop tune pedals and those by itself introduce quite a lot of latency . For people like me the wireless latency has to be an absolute minimal thing to compensate for that.
@MaxSoloMusic6 жыл бұрын
yep, the lower the better :) I've never tried GLXD 16. But it doesn't use standard AA or AAA batteries. So, no professional use by any means

I just can say WOW and more WOOOOOOW. Amazing review with real numbers not just a SUBJECTIVE OPINION. I appreciate the review planning explaining in the intro what would be covered, comparison with other devices, the marks on the floor when you did the range test. I was surprised with the level of noise, personally I think I could live with those 5 ms but not sure about the noise. Question: What device would you recommend in that price range? Thanks you Sir, greetings from Switzerland.
@MaxSoloMusic4 жыл бұрын
Hey. U2 actually performs quite well as long as you don't go for a very high gain sound. I used it with my active bass during live performances. So far so good. Speaking of other brands and devices, Line6 is good but more expensive. Shure has a good wireless system but also more expensive. I'm looking forward to check the one from Harley Benton, it looks promising

I would rearrange the order of how you do reviews. A friendly suggestion would be to take apart the device at the end. This rules out people who can claim your device was somehow compromised while taken apart and put back together. I think this in depth review is seriously detailed and I very much appreciated it~ I bought mine before I saw this video and I'm pretty sure these will be perfect for me jamming around the house.

Hi, I changed the batteries in my XVive U2 system. The problem I had was that, from time to time, on the receiver, the blue button would flash and vibrate the sound, a bit like a tremolo. I thought it would go away by changing the batteries, but the problem is still there. Do you have any idea where this would come from? If anyone has had this problem and resolved it, please let me know how to do it. Thanks for this video.
