To everyone asking if it works on a pedal board. YES. All it does is transmit the audio signal. You can plug it directly into your pedal. It has onboard systems to output the audio signal at the correct gain. It won't be quieter than a cable, and should keep it's volume until it loses signal. When it loses signal you will just have a terrible sound but the volume will be the same.

Let me answer every single question left unanswered below in one sentence: this works exactly the same way as a guitar cable but there are about 6ms of added latency which is barely noticeable on a hardware rig. Now the "gravy" clarifications: Yes, it works going into pedals, or a pedal board, or into your DAW audio interface, or even a iRig-like device for mobile devices. But latency is cumulative for software applications/monitoring, so it's a better live tool than recording tool unless you use zero-latency monitoring for your recording. Yes, it sounds great. Yes, 5 hours is enough battery time. Yes, it will fit your [fill in the blank] guitar. Yes, it is cheaper than any other comparable wireless system I'm aware of. No, it is not durable (its plastic), so thrash rockers can keep their cables. One other downside -- putting these near a wifi router can interfere (causing breakup in sound) -- you'll need to get away from the router by about 5 feet or so.

I've been wireless for yrs. Built a board in last month. Just tried cable for first time and sound was terrible. Big loss of treble. Thing is first pedal Wampler dB-1 buffer_boost. Is a cable different impedance than wireless? I dont know but wireless sounds awesome and is good for 200'

How does it handle low input impedance fuzzes? They don’t like buffers, so I guess they probably don’t like these things?

Regarding WiFi routers interfering with the signal of the wireless system. Well, there are now guitar wireless systems that work in a different and less-crowded frequency such as 5.8Ghz. So it can solve that little issue

I use this wireless system live and in rehearsals for my band. The only time I've ever had an issue with it is when we'd play a club where the wireless router was close to the stage. It'd give a little interference that'd cause some drop out, sometimes remedied by channel switching, sometimes not. Some people mentioned cross talk between other wireless units, but I haven't had that issue. All in all, I'd say that it's a great system and I'd recommend it.

I bought one a few weeks back on Amazon for £115.00, works great. One thing to note, I didn't pay enough attention to the fact that it was actually being supplied, through Amazon, by Xvive Direct. As they are based in China it took just under 2 weeks to arrive. No big deal but it is amazing how quickly you become used to things arriving next day or the day after. Still a great product, the only reservation is, will being made of plastic affect it's life, if that life is spent "on the road".

I've had one for about a year and a half and it works very well. I don't gig with it but have taken it to jams without any problems. The only problem I've had is that it interferes with my TV. I don't have cable, just broadcast and it interferes with that. I don't know what would happen if more than one person was using one at the same time. I guess you would all have to be on different channels.

You should try running a cable from your amp, to your pedal board, and then run the transmitter from the output of the pedal board to the guitar. That would make for an interesting video... Because I might use this to gig if it sounds fine through a board.

I built my board after I been using wireless for a long time . Keep mine transmitter on the amp so I got cable running from wireless transmitter to first pedal and 2 cables out to separate amps. I actually use 3 ft cables to keep length short since I can go far enough away with the wireless. Everything is in its place away from anything that could cause noise. My system is real quiet unless I have too many drives engaged at once. Same as it should be if I used a cable all the time.

OK, so I bought one. Used it 6 or 7 times and it operated flawlessly. The 8th time there was a small glitch and I ignored it. The 9th time it completely cut out from about 30 feet away. After that it just sputtered if I moved a foot. Wow, talk about embarrassment on the bandstand but after some testing I learned a valuable lesson. Always make sure your battery is charged before a performance.

These work great...only issue is you're dealing with a lithium battery and they have a half-life. My unit had no issues making it through a 4 hr gig for the first year or two fully charged...now it's right on the edge of petering out the last half hour. These really aren't serviceable unless you're a complete electronics geek so you'd have to consider it a disposable unit that you get 2-3 years out of tops. The sound you get is indistinguishable from your cable...there's no dropouts or "pumping" etc.

It's definitely not stuff like this. These cheap ones use 2.4ghz wireless, which is the same as WiFi and is prone to interference. Pros use professional grade wireless transmitters and receivers such as the Shure ULX-D system. The benefits to these are: 1. much more reliable, stable, and clean signal 2. less prone to RF interference, especially when there are multiple systems being used at the same time 3. more rugged/durable 4. longer battery life But they do cost easily $1200+ per channel, so it's up to the individual if the peace of mind is worth paying 10x the price.

it's introducing 6ms latency because it's using wi-fi 2,4 ghz band, but still, you get 6ms of latency when your ears are 2 meters away from your amp speakers, so not a big deal, unless you have some digital processing on the way which adds its own latency as well.

Ive got one, They are not that great. Its not a clean sound. Play it clean without distortion. I use a Nylon Gtr and its not the same as playing with a lead. At 179 you get what you pay for. Its ok and does the job but if you want a clean sound without the noise then go either lead or by something more expensive, clean and reliable. I have an AKG wireless system. The difference this requires power as opposed to the xvive where its charged/wireless. My 2 cents worth

Yes, my transmitter went from my guitar into a receiver next to my pedal board on channel 1. Out from the receiver it went into my pedal chain and out into a second transmitter, which was on channel 2. That wirelessly sent the signal to the second receiver sitting on top of my Marshall head...which fed into it's input. After a while I stuck with a single setup and ran a lead out of my pedals into my Marshall head, whilst still giving me freedom to move around like a loony onstage and jump in front of the monitors now and again so i could hear what the audience was, rather than my wedge monitor.

mine breaks up always now. batteries don't last and you cant replace them :( or can you? Doesn't make sense. $150.00 Didn't last two years. Buying a cheaper one for around $50.00 with 5.8 instead of 2.4 everything runs on 2.4

I saw this down near my local shop, had a go of it. Latency is 2ms-5ms. But it's awesome, not tripping over cables, walking around the store and not having an issue about getting caught, tripped, someone else tripping over it. 1 issue, I found. If you have more than 3 running, they intercept each other.

That's pretty good, I would love to try it, i roadie for Unforgettable Fire the U2 tribute band out of NY, we currently use the line 6 wireless. we do a lot of outdoor gigs I wonder how this unit would work with all the other RF going around at outdoor gigs

This is a great product at the beginning. Their rather fragile and the battery life diminishes dramatically over time. Drop outs are common. I've tried two of these from different sellers. Same problems with both.

These are great. Just don't rely on the for active pickups. Been using these for almost 6 years and they seem to work on some of my instruments. On others it gives a really high pitched digital squeel which cannot be fixed.

I am liking the X-VIVE System however, gave you used it in a pedal chain as opposed to plugging direct into an amp. Pedal chains generally create a lot of noise when a wireless system is plugged into them. If so, your feedback and or demonstration would be awesome. A typical chain may have 8 to 10 effects (4-5 pre-amp and 4-5 in the loop) pedals and this system may experience mass signal feedback and/or static noise. Your demo would be greatly appreciated. I have two of these and they've never let me down (one is in a wood effect because I'm a sad individual). It's excellent, some friends have alternatives and they almost always have battery or charging problems or they stick out at an odd angle. It just does the job and doesn't cost the earth.

Hello and thank you for the review video. I bought a XVive U2 system after watching your video. I have two issues with it and I was wondering if you know the answer: 1. when I connect my guitar to the amp directly using a cable, I put the amp volume to 1 and it's low enough. But when I connect the XVive system I can't hear anything and I should turn up the volume to 3. Have you faced the same problem? any solution? 2. the system doesn't memorize the channels. Basically anytime I turn them on I have to do the channel setup again.

I have one of these. I can't play with these most of the time because the signal cuts off when its near internet router or when bluetooth is connected with other device. I really like the product when the signal is smooth but doesn't work all the time.

For anyone wondering, it has a latency of 6ms. 300 is the minimum perceptible delay. No problems there!
@aneveningsmoke

300ms sounds way off. Some analog delays max out at less than that, which would make the pedal useless.
@VoidSixx
@VoidSixx 6 жыл бұрын
Way to spread inaccurate numbers. 300ms is way higher than the minimum perceptible delay, that's nearly half a second! You can notice the delay in online games when you have a ping of 60ms! I'm assuming you meant 30ms?

Can you tell me about interference with Wifi, wireless mics, or other wireless guitar systems. Say for instance, we're playing gig and the venue has wifi, there are two wireless mics with the band and maybe two other guitar wireless systems?

Does this work with a guitar that doesn’t have power to run the pickups and whatnot ie. a hollow bodied electric that gets phantom power from the cable? If not, do you know of any wireless system that does provide that phantom power?

Tried it yesterday on 2 different amps. One was a Marshall JVM 410H. The wireless device was to noisy on the high gain settings. . When using a Marshall JMP 50 watt combo the noise was gone but there was a decent loss of bass and lower mid frequencies. For me it didn't work.

It doesn't really matter how far after like 30 feet lol but seriously you should test while other household items are on like when I'm playing guitar (not wireless stuff) and then stop to press the home button on my iPhone (when it's plugged in) I instantly get a lot of feedback so I would like to know if I get the same, less, or more of that static sound from using this because I am interested in buying one...
