Maxspect Gyre Cleaning

Removing, disassembling, and reassembling the Maxspect Gyre XF 230.
Recommended monthly cleaning and a 3-6 month full disassembly, soak, and scrubbing. Following these guidelines will hopefully extend and improve the operation of your gyre 😁👍

How’s the noise level on it running? I’ve read different reviews. Some saying very loud , others they are silent .

When you first install the Gyre you can notice a humming which depends on what mode you set it to. After a while with the lights, sump, and other things you do not notice it. If it gets too loud then you should take it apart and clean it good again.

Hi. How can you diassemble the shaft from the main motor?

I have not broken it down to the motor within the body housing, so my recommendation would be to look through the owner/operator manual, or look up a video from CoralVue. They have many videos regarding Maxspect products that I found helpful. Cheers, Steve

Did you drop the whole powerhead assembled or disassembled into the solution?

First I soaked it fully assembled and then used the brush dipped in the solution to scrub when taking it apart. Redipped everything to get the residue clear and let dry.

One of the best purchases I've made so far! You can customize so much to fit your needs for corals and fish. Right now I'm on the Lunar Tidal Cycle to create a swaying motion and still enough power to circulate top to bottom.

I personally gave this model a try but went back to my vortech pump. It was too strong for my 40gallon tank.

I found them to be really easy to diassemble with some elbow grease. Definitely well made so it does not just come apart. I don’t saltwater anymore, but plan on starting up again after retirement and Maxspect is my go to.
