I tried to inform KZbin about the general pattern of this malicious trick, but i don't know a suitable communication-channel where you can drop this information effectively and clearly ti KZbin administration. All that users can do is report each comment separately and report the channel via the report user button in the about section. Funny that RAM is now a limitation on the mini now that the studio is available. When the mini was launched, all these influencers comically claimed that the mini could run everything on 8GB with no limitations whatsoever. They claimed more RAM did nothing - it was magic! Lies lies lies.

I was thinking the exact same thing… I mean 16gb of ram is able to handle basically all of the multitasking you‘re doing as well as heavy loads… especially when considering that the mac os applications are written to be so light… Then again, once 32gb are available you get twice as much so of course you go for the mac studio… Simple math;-)

So this is what I have understood so far, the base model always has the best price to performance ratio. The more you upgrade the base model, the ratio goes down. Like I will get a better deal buying a base Mac Studio compared to a full speced up Mac mini, not to mention those extra GPU cores, ports and more that gives you more for the price difference between them, let alone the huge performance gap.
@drabbster
@drabbster 2 жыл бұрын
yeah but remember that a speccd up Mac mini will still have more storage than the base model Mac Studio. So you will have to upgrade that as well and the price difference becomes bigger again.

Yes, I but own the same specced Mini. What do you need it for? Mine is a general user computer (movies, a few games, KZbin) I hope to dabble in a bit of Vlogging in the near future but not as a a full time occupation. When they break it all down it might take me 5 minutes more for a project twice a week. That is not worth $1,100 for a yearly saving of 8 1/2 hours. If I were posting every day on a Vlog, then it becomes 25 1/2 hours, so on an hourly rate it starts to look more essential.

I would say he didn't mention it on the Air because the Air at its base configuration is great deal once you start building on that its gets close the Pro 14 especially if you get the Pro 14 on sale like I did for $1750 which comes with 512gb and 16gb ram which the Air would be $1449 which at that point just spend a little more and get the Pro 14 inch on sale.

Hey @jahder, I did spend like a week and a half with a MacBook Air 8GB 256GB doing Unity and it did actually work quite amazingly well… up until the SSD starts getting filled (256GB is truly nothing for what I do) and the memory pressure gets in the red. I was using for Unity and it saved my life for that week but ultimately I ended up trading for a 16GB 1TB M1 Pro, the price difference from an upgraded M1 Air like @Jeff Robins mentions made me to just bite the extra dollars. Mind you, the M1 Air is infinitely portable, it has been my favorite computer so far, but if it is to be used for a bit more than just light browsing and light workloads the base model for sure won’t cut it sadly.

I know what you are asking is the replacement for the Intel Mac Mini “space grey”, but when you price out the Intel Mini with: i7-3.2 6 core (+$200) 32gb of ram (+$600) 10Gig eth (+$100) your total is $1,999 The same price as the base model Mac Studio! Both will have 512gig of SSD. It doesn’t make economical sense to expand the lineup of the Mini beyond what it is now. Most people don't realize how hard it is to max out 16GB of ram. If you're look at these two machines, then you don't need the Mac Studio. You know if you need the Mac Studio or not, at least you should.

yes. Unless you work with Blender. Or Heavy audio software with a ton of tracks. The 16 gb of unified ram in less expensive M1 computers should be more than enough.

I am waiting for the M2 Mac mini or the M1 or M2 pro chips in a mini form factor. I want 3 thunderbolt ports, two 10Gb USBc ports and a card reader. I bought a MacBook Air with 256GB SSD and 8 GB of Unified memory. Occasionally these become a hassle. A 512GB or 1TB SSD would be perfect. I think 16 GB of Memory would work. The Air works for everything that I do mobile.

For anyone with a port issue, consider a Hub Monitor. It's a combination of a monitor and a dock/hub and would let you plug all of your peripherals into the the monitor and leave your other ports open for easy access. I use a dell 2723qe and for the price, it's unbeatable. 4 individual 1tb drives, 1x 10tb HDD, stay plugged in and I still have two ports on the bottom of the monitor for additional uses. It also is extremely sharp, color accurate enough to grade on, and supports 90 watt charging over the USB c input.

Lol, I have a question please answer honestly. Why would you be looking at a Mac for productivity in things like video editing? Just about any PC is going to do it way better, let's be honest unless you just flat bought some POS PC from Walmart most any modern PC out there is powerful enough to completely rape a M1 or a studio with zero effort, and PC is compatible with a ton different software options to make the job easier as well.

On my Mini I had to buy a third-party port expander to get the front facing ports. Add $100. I traded in my Mini and got the base Studio. I absolutely love it. If you can afford it, get it. In six months you'll forget how much you spent but EVERY SINGLE DAY you're going to love the improved performance. Every day. Specs and benchmarks just don't tell the story. The Studio is so much better, even for everyday productivity tasks.

For video edit can you benchmark somehow how fluent is the video edit process and not the export time? I think the lack of lagging would be much more interesting than the export time.

this channel is absolutely run by apple. they try to get users to buy the more expensive option by making ridiculous upgrade choices. why would you upgrade to 32 gb of ram with a processor that cant use it? the more videos i watch the more i am shure this is at least sponsored by apple.

@@MaxTechOfficial Why not just release the video and caveat the FCP X performance, the same caveat will probably apply for all the apps as they will all need to optimize. At least with Premiere and maybe Resolve you get try out the beta versions to see performance. But the ship times has slipped into July for these things and those of us outside of the FCPX universe are anxiously awaiting any results on the max vs ultra to make our purchasing decision. It seems that every KZbinr who reviews just wants to show us geek bench and cinebench and then FCPX, and I'm not knocking any of that, but a lot of people use Premiere and Resolve, either because they want to or because their part of the industry requires that. For instance, in the New York advertising world, the majority of edit houses that used FCP7, switched to Premiere when FCPX was released and not quite ready for the workflow that was required. Even though FCPX is totally capable now, the majority of advertising agencies and edit shops in NYC still tend to use Premiere or if they were Avid shops before, maybe still use that. Anyway, that was a tangent, but my point was that there are tons of creative professionals who can't get their hands on a max or ultra to test out, let alone both, and we are watching those ship times slip to July as we await that video! I know that isn't your fault, or your problem, just asking you to reconsider waiting on apple who has done themself a major disservice but not releasing this update and not communicating their intentions, once again.

@@MaxTechOfficial I beg you, please release the video editors comparison. Apple isn't trying to do you any favors with their lack of transparency, inability to get you on the beta, and the fact that they still haven't released this update. I refresh your feed daily and I see rumor videos instead of this helpful information that so many of us have been waiting on. Help the other creative out there, there have been about 50 people releasing their tests with FCP on youTube, but very few with resolve and premiere, and very few to the level that we can expect from you. So help us all out!

It looks like one important point is being overlooked. It doesn't really matter how many cores you have that can do what is needed to do if the software you are using isn't able to use them no advantage will be seen. Once, or if, the software you use sees the additional cores as usable, the performance of the extra cores should really show their advantages.

I just got the base model.... because it was the only one I could get. And I definitely wanted this over the mini for a few reasons. 1. I am far too used to 3 displays :) 2. I know I would need the 32 GB. 3. I wanted the faster speeds and better graphics for FCP and AfterEffects. The extra ports is another big deal..... but even with those, I have a hub attached :)

I have the Mac Studio Ultra and can't get this thing to use all cores, not even close. But this is no compliment, as compressor exports with sharpen/denoise take forever to complete only utilizing a fraction of the cores. Same is true for WOW, which crawls at 30 fps with so much headroom left in the CPU/GPU. Its time for updated software to make use of all this power...

I have a Hackintosh with 32G of RAM, and I use Xcode daily with a ton of apps, web browsers, Pixelmator Pro, I have yet to use more than 16G of RAM (checking on iStat Menus), so if you are a non-3d/non-Video and just an average developer i don't know if you can even use 32G RAM. I'll probably get the studio m2 max next year. Half my 32G RAM sits idle most of the time.

Adobe optimise their software for Windows first, and last for that matter. Their UIs for Mac software are not written in Obj C or Swift, their in common code that is cross-platform, that's just one point at which they don't optimise much bigger impacts on the graphics intensive code. Adobe have been pushing us away from macOS/Apple hardware for decades now, because on Windows they have less products to compete with for one, and just some general, linkering animosity b/w Apple and Adobe probably.
