Previously LED display is so good, but Mini-LED display looks really better, especially when you see in angle (at least from my IPS display perspective). So, the perfect match to me would be a combination: 11" mini-LED iPad. Wow man, these displays are already so amazing, imagine when the micro-LED technology arrives. 🤩️

You are not mistaken, the 12.9" is a little bit thicker. As a digital artist, my biggest gripe with the 12.9" is that because of the Mini LED clusters the glass has to be thicker. Sadly it results in (for the first time ever) a small amount of parallax. Which is the amount of space between the point of the pencil and the actual cursor on the screen. Especially important if you are used to painting in Photoshop, Procreate or Paint Studio and prefer to have your brush outline visible as you work. No matter how much you calibrate it, it will always appear slightly off center. So it will be the 11" for me. Also, due to the extra casing that holds the clusters together, the edges of the display has a dark boundary. If my full screen, digital canvas is not 100% bright white... there is something wrong with the world.

I appreciate the comparison! I spent a lot of time with the new 12.9 and 11 inch next to each other to really get a feel for each of them. I had a 2018 11 and a 2020 12.9 as well. The new 12.9 is MUCH better when playing video but when you’re not, it’s pretty much the same exact quality as the 11. The size difference is pretty massive too. I went for an 11 inch this time but now that I’m going to be working at the office again I wanted the more portable size. I’m also planning on getting the 14 inch MacBook Pro for home when it’s released. Had I not needed to be as portable or planning on a MacBook, the 12.9 was an awesome choice to do about everything.

I just got the 12.9 inch version (upgraded from the iPad Air 3), and I love it, but I kind of regret not getting the 11 inch. I use it a lot for notes, but the 11 inch is so much easier to hold in one hand. To be honest, I only got the 12.9 inch one because of the mini-LED, and it is gorgeous, but you sacrifice portability. It’s starting to feel like it’s not quite the trade-off advantage I wanted. But I’m still happy with it. I’m actually starting to use my iPad as my primary device over my 2018 MacBook Pro, and it is more than capable of being my primary driver. Either way, both versions are excellent. This is a beast of a machine, and it is future-proofed for at least 5+ years. Most people will be happy with either one. Both have unique advantages and disadvantages over the other.

I know what you feel. So far I used 10.5". I try to convince myself to 12.9" although I know 11" is more rational choice for me. That is why I prepared a help list: 11" vs 12.9" wins 4:2 in important points for me (and 3:0 in essential points) so decided to get 11". However even now against rational thinking 12.9" is tempting. I hope someday there will be released 11.9" or 12.0" to make an upgrade after 4-5 years. - Weight: 11" (essential) - Comfort of use / mobility: 11" (essential) - Missing blooming effect: 11" (essential) - Price: 11" - Deeper blacks / no grey background: 12.9" - Bigger workspace for music tools: 12.9"

@@obidean3964 I don't think that's true in this case though. The pixel density is the same, so it is just cutting out a smaller display from the same sheet if you will. That should be easier to hit yields on. Now if the pixels were smaller, I could see your point.
@obidean39643 жыл бұрын
@@HVDynamo No bro, display production doesn't work like that lol. Both iPad Pro screen (11 and 12.9) is cut out from bigger piece typically produced from different line of display fab (factory). And those Mini LED backlighting system is not fully integrated on the display yet btw. It was made by different manufacturers (not by the same display manufacturer, mind you !). Since it's only on bigger 12.9 currently, Apple has specifically ordered the tailored spec for that size like the most optimum amount of LED zones which is 2048 zones etc. Cramming that many concentrated LED on small screen (smaller than TV) is not an easy feat and typically will results in thermal issue which will indirectly affecting the other components. Even though 12.9 vs 11 may seem small numerically but in reality it's way different (y'all know how much bigger the 12.9 iPad Pro right?), still 0.1 inch away from full 2 inches difference. Every inch matters in this case like how typically 15 inch laptop always has more raw power than 13 inch counterpart, even though it's roughly "only" around 2 inches difference. It's for the same reason, thermal handling is always better on larger size. More room for heat to spread out and dissipate through, so can pack in more gut power ... If let's say Apple want to make Mini LED powered 11 inch iPad Pro, the Mini LED backlight panel won't be the same spec as 12.9 version and some areas might have been compromised to make it fit behind an even smaller screen, thus will create quality inconsistency between both iPad Pro and Apple definitely DEFINITELY don't want that. Oh btw pixel density is NOT THE SAME as the physical teeny tiny LEDs behind the screen lol ... Don't get me wrong, I also want the tech to come in the smaller 11 inch Pro as well, it can happen but it won't be very soon. Even if Apple can, I don't think they will, the current positioning of iPad Pro 2021 makes so much more sense since 12.9 version traditionally have been lackluster to justify its existence compared to 11 version. Now that it has Mini LED exclusively, it makes up a compelling selling point as the better multimedia machine and the spacious screen size is cherry on top to complete the cake. My 2 cents ...

Imagine how many of those that buy Ipad are really doing video editing at any level other than to upload to TikTok? Apple gives you the base Macbook Air 7 gpu cores when you can run full software and gives the best CPU to the Ipad where you are till this day runing limited software. @@muhammadharis2205 I am actually not 100% sure about that one. Apple’s site doesn’t say anything about HDR support, but when I’m playing HDR content on KZbin it does say it’s HDR and at least to me the image quality is very good. I certainly agree with your assessment and really like your channel. I have had both sizes in the past and for me the weight of the 12.9” is a major factor. Although I Like the screen size, especially when I was viewing PDF reports that I would need to review, I really recommend the 11” for most people. I do think side by side comparisons don't always help in decision making. If you would just look at each one separately and judge each device on its own merit you can decide whether you like what you see. When you are looking side by side you become more critical of the differences which might not have a big effect in your daily use. I am really looking forward to your review of the 8 vs 16 gigs or ram.

Portability and heaviness also aren’t a big issue for me because when I’m sketching or editing I have my iPad on a stand, and I always carry a big backpack if I’m going out places (girl’s got a lot to take with her anyway). I'm loving my 11" M1 Macbook. The promised 9-11 hours of working and watching KZbin seems be fairly accurate. I watched 3-5 hours of youtube while working on my Macbook Pro today, and the M1 11" iPad was at 55% battery, but the 2018 12.9" (with keyboard, which drains some power) would have been at 20%.
