Mainer here, wishing my southern friends well in the snow. I know it's not very common for y'all. Tip that may help you out: if you can, save up some dirt in a bucket. If ice forms, throw dirt on top of the ice. It helps it melt faster (retains heat from sunlight) and gives you some traction for walking on it.

Hope guys flying piston and turbo-prop aircraft pay attention. Unless equipped for flight into known icing, this isn't your fist rodeo in these conditions, and you're IFR current .... plz stay put. "Get-there-itis" is a killer. No one wants to see another KZbin pilot channel give a post flight analysis of a crash due to icing.

Woke up to 24°F (not real feel) in San Antonio, Texas today. Freaking unreal that it might now here so soon after the 2021 freeze. Before that it was the 2017 flurries ( about 1/4 inch of snow). I’m 23 years old and I’ve seen more snow in my adult life than I have through my whole childhood.

Louisiana resident here! We're on the northshore of Lake Ponchartrain in Covington. We can handle a bit of snow, I've seen snow and even accumulation here a couple times, but the amount we're talking about here is simply unheard of for someone my age. Honestly a bit nerve wracking. Really hoping I dont lose power because only sources of heat I'll have is a small space heater I can run off of my generator, a fire pit outside and our cars. Just hoping we can keep power and just enjoy the day off in the snow lol

I’m hoping to get a little bit of snow in McAlpin Florida. The last time I have seen was in Tucson in 1989-1990 winter before I moved back to Naples Florida. I was working as a recycle driver around Christmas time and we had snow flurries while doing the pre-trip inspection that didn’t stick to the ground.

I live right across the river from Wallahalla S.C. and did my daily walk in shorts and a tank top. The 2 of us are not cut from the same cloth as most folks down south. My folks were cold.

Old school tip: keep your feet dry - use a plastic bag (bread bag) over your socks, before you put your boots on. Worked great - vintage 1970's 😁
