Mainer here, wishing my southern friends well in the snow. I know it's not very common for y'all. Tip that may help you out: if you can, save up some dirt in a bucket. If ice forms, throw dirt on top of the ice. It helps it melt faster (retains heat from sunlight) and gives you some traction for walking on it.

Louisiana resident here! We're on the northshore of Lake Ponchartrain in Covington. We can handle a bit of snow, I've seen snow and even accumulation here a couple times, but the amount we're talking about here is simply unheard of for someone my age. Honestly a bit nerve wracking.
