I fitted the Maxview roam to my caravan about a year ago, not the best move l have ever made 😢 speeds have been very poor, Maxview technical help were useless. On my new have l have just had a motorhome Wi-Fi installed, found it to be a far superior set up, speeds have been great. Used the same network provider on both systems.

Nice presentation. But you do realise you have used a spade bit designed for wood ? Should ideally use a holesaw, deburr raw edges, paint and seal before installing anything into your flat roof Good to watch anyhow. Poynting stuff is very good.

Most folk have those mimo antennas turned 90 degrees to yours so it is more aerodynamic ! Installers are making good money "fitting" these units. A true test might be done in a remote area using different sim providers and comparing signal strengths? Maybe another video idea?

Maxview actually state fitting it like this. No idea why. As a fully qualified radio ham, I understand radio waves and can see no real reason or benefit either way.

Informative vlog. But I would have used bead of Sikaflex or other silicone sealant product in the drilled hole for the permanent fixture of the aerial/antenna, and not relied on the sticky pad, and a bead of sealant around aerial/antenna, to keep the entry of the roof dry/moisture out.
@MikeM0XMX Жыл бұрын
Yes. Out of camera I did do that. Sikaflex is king.

TBH, I am very dissapointed with is. I dont think th ecellualr modem is up to much. I get a better signal from my phone even inside the van which shocks me. I reached out to maxview and they explained its to do with the modem technology being Cat4 vs Cat10 in most mobile phones! I dont know whether I just have an old out dated version now but I simply use the maxview modem tetherd to my tablet/phone wifi to give me van-wide wifi. If I was buying something now I think I would look for alternatives

It works great. Currently connecting using it as I type. I haven't got a SIM for it at moment so as signal is rubbish on phone I have put the SIM in the router from phone and it's brilliant because aerial is on the roof.
