If we were all the same then we would be boring and simple because originality and individuality is not there at all. As people who try to blend in and fit in a certain crowd are followers, not leaders. They're not masters or mistresses for themselves, however for other people instead. That shouldn't be. We shouldn't live by what standards or norms people expect us to follow. But by what we believe is right and good for us to do. To follow our hearts. As long as we're not hurting or holding back ourselves or others than we're fine. It's like what my mom says to me a lot "Don't care about what people think? What would happen when I do care? The women at the party were multiple CCs. They were probably hoping to hook Maxwell for themselves. Seeing he chose a woman from a perceived underclass was galling to them. The men liked Fran more because they see her as sidepiece material, good enough to bed but not to wed. Max had a party at the house and none of them showed up. CC gloats hoping Max sees Fran as a social and business liability and dumps her. (Bet CC poisoned the social well on Fran.) Loved it when Max stands by Fran and Niles twisted the knife on CC. Plus Fran was kind to a vagrant in the park, not knowing the man was one of the powerful and influential men in NY society. Max invited him and he gave Fran a rave review. Moral of the story: people put on a front if they think it will get them something. And Max know who his real friends are.

@@quirogatnonerrat3214 you really think you know what it means to be a high functioning member of society. You know nothing of class. Class is having decency. It means you aren't going to be an asshole to people who even if they worry about sustainability, waste, and budgeting whereas you don't, you aren't going to treat them like trash. In reality, people like that were more than likely children of middle class families, that had to gather up scholarships bc they couldn't afford the education, in which they became the whipping boys and mules of actual wealthy friend groups and greek organizations so that when they finished they could use nepotism to further advance their careers and climb the social ladder. Only problem with this is, people still look down on them. Notice how maxwell comes from nobility and is very worldly. Throughout the show they run into several of his friends from across the world, and express that as a child he was made to mingle with children from families of the highest societal circles globally. None of those people are ones he knows from his youth. They only met him bc they were trying to leech off of him after they came into money, and the same industry, hoping to suck up to him. He worth more than most of them combined. They don't have class. They dress and act how they think the wealthy are supposed to act. They are rude and untimely, and didn't have the common decency or the manners to speak about Fran out of hearing distance. Class cares. They don't. They think they are better than Fran bc they so-called "made it" and in their eyes she didn't. But bc people of high society still don't accept their posing asses, they put on fronts to try to prove themselves, and did so by degrading someone who up to this point in the show, has met and befriended wealthy and famous people they probably haven't even been in the same building with. Actually wealthy people who were raised to respect others; ones who have actual CLASS dress like regular people on the street, treat others with respect, have manners, and don't put out an image to persuade people that they have it all. Why try to persuade when you already know? You're one of those posers bc you think these people are better than Fran, when in reality, high society would look down upon THEM for being so abrasive to someone who genuinely values their opinions and not what they can offer her.

Funny that the host of the party actually played the mom of Maggie’s classmate in Season 1 who was nice to Fran. But here she’s mean to Fran.

Im just like Sylvia asking for the food to my friends when they tell me about their problems, my mother used to do the same and tell to my father to take tuppers to bring food when he was visiting his mother.
