On a lighter note, Maxwell's today's innings might surely pose some significant problems for batting coaches... Many may actually start thinking what is exactly there to 'teach' or 'learn' in batting when it's as simple as 'see the ball, hit the ball'. 🙄😏 🤕

The reason he never gets picked for test cricket is because the coaches don't like the way he trains. He is such a freak he can do everything the coaches ask without even trying and they misinterpreted that as him not putting in an effort. Sometimes a player is just that good.

Best ODI innings of all time. I haven't watched the 175* 🏏 innings of kapil dev made in 83 world cup, but this 201* by maxwell by far is the only equivalent to that innings and even greater than that. Best ODI innings of all time. 💫
@sticktothefacts8905 Жыл бұрын
Not true. You got to include Herschelle Gibbs & Viv Richards here. Gibbs got 175 off 111 balls against Australia in 2006. Viv Richards 189 against England at Old Trafford in 1984 where he put on 108 runs for the last wicket with Michael Holding. Arunabha Sengupta wrote in 2016 that Vivs innings was the greatest ever ODI innings at that time, not Kapil Devs
@SagarAbhishek Жыл бұрын
@@sticktothefacts8905 Yes Gibbs and Viv richards could be included in that league, but Maxwell's still is greatest considering that it came at a stage like world cup, where one defeat could have landed Australia out of semifinals, or would have dimmed their chances. Viv Richard's was good too, but it came in a bilateral series against England. So, Kapil Dev's would always be considered as greater over Viv's one. No matter what some journalist says, as each one can have their own personal preferences, and the preference of one journalist could not be sticked upon all of the people.
@sticktothefacts8905 Жыл бұрын
@@SagarAbhishek Maxwells no doubt is the greatest. Australia were chasing victory (much more pressure than setting a target), against a team who had beaten England, Pakistan & Sri Lanka, in conditions that were far hotter & tougher than England, and he scored more runs off less balls. I included Viv & Herschelle because these are the other innings in this conversation. Both of these were against top tier teams (Australia & England) whereas Zimbabwe were a minnow and barely rated as a side. You cant say Kapil Devs innings would always be rated higher than Vivs when I included an Indian journalist who said Vivs was the greatest. I did this to show that it isnt universal that Kapils knock is considered the greatest. You can simply say you rate it higher, which is fine, thats your opinion. But it was against Zimbabwe, who were a very very average team & hardly of the calibre of England or Australia
@SagarAbhishek Жыл бұрын
@@sticktothefacts8905 Zimbabwe of 1983 world cup is not the zimbabwe of today. You can read any journalist's opinion on that. During the phase of 1983-2003, especially in the 1983 world cup, they had beaten good sides and considered to be a team that others should be wary of. So, you can't say that zimbabwe were minnows or a low quality side during that world cup. Rest, i agree that Viv's and herschelle Gibbs' knock were quality knocks too.

I’m old enough to remember Viv Richards 189 no v England in 1984 when the WI were 102-7 but this has to be the greatest ever given the match situation at 91-7, Maxwell being in total agony and on half a leg.
