I have just recently read his book and seen the film about this remarkable man and his story of survival. I have often wondered how survivors of traumatic events cope with their memories. So, I understand in this interview when Maxwell says "painting is my life" and "when I paint I am really not here." A really great interview.

I just finished his book. Very stirring and a must read for every Canadian. We need to remember how crass and unwelcome Canada was to Jewish survivors.

It's good that such Holocaust experiences are written and told, as they are a warning of what can happen in our world, and we can learn from them, so that we can avoid a Holocaust from happening again.
