It's not the curse that brings Link back, his soul reincarnates in the times of great Danger. Zelda does actually not reincarnate. All Zeldas are from the same bloodline beginning with the skyward sword zelda.

To add to what the other person said, the curse's wording is that Demise's hatred will follow the blood of the Goddess and the spirit of the Hero. Implying that Link already was in a reincarnation cycle and that we have an unbroken family line between Skyward Sword Zelda and every other Zelda.

Another thing about Link and Zelda's relationship in Breath of the Wild that wasn't mentioned in the video was in memory 11 at Lanaryu Road I believe, right before Ganon awakens at Hyrule Castle, where Mipha begins to talk about what she thinks about when she's healing. She says it's embarrassing to say, which means it's something personal, but she says "It helps when I think about-" then get's cut off by Ganon. Seeing as it is something embarrassing, it's not confirmed or anything, but it seems like she was about to say "It helps when I think about- the one I love-" which would be Link. And what do we see when Zelda awakens her power? She's protecting Link, obviously thinking about him and saving him. Perhaps she was thinking about the one she loves. Nothing is confirmed though. It's kinda like my own head canon, showing that Mipha thinks about her love for Link when she's healing, and Zelda doing the same when she uses her own power.

I honestly made that same connection a long time ago i figured since Mipha herself says her powers are more prominent is when she thinks about Link her crush but this can also be said about Zelda who does the same thing in a single moment when the guardians are about to finish Link off for good. this is also true again in the Warriors game as well especially so since she actually voices her concerns and even takes her hand away from Impa whos trying to flee with her nearly against her will and then rushes back for him at full speed tripping and falling as she runs to try and stop 4 revived blights from killing Link with whatever she thought she could do in that moment before her power activates i mean you dont do that for a hero already willing to sacrifice himself to save the princess

Pretty sure Link and Zelda who were childhood friends in Minish Cap had a romantic undertone as well. Just so happens to be the same writer for that game as Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild (hidemaro Fujibayashi) so we can see that the writer is the real link to the romance in the series.

Now, I'm ace so I'm super biased. But I like the idea more that Link and Zelda have a connection that transcends normal relationships in the same way it transcends time and space. People can really only understand time, space, and life in general in finite and limited ways. So each time these characters are awoken, their relationship manifests along the lines of how they exist in that specific lifetime. Sometimes it's romantic, other times more like close friends, and still others just as a great team despite not knowing one another that well. They're drawn to one another, and will always find one another and triumph. But what that connection truly means will always escape them.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way towards them. Even thought in games like Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess they only exchange a few words and nothing else happens, I always feelt that the encounters with Zelda were special. I really love how Zelda's lullaby is the song that always plays in the background, I think that melody sounds somewhat romantic and nostalgic, aswell as magical, and I think those words describe perfecly what they feel when they meet each other. They used to be lovers, so I've this headcanon that even if they don't fall in love in all Zelda's game (The hero of time probably married Malon), they can feel this strange feeling when they are together. It's the fault of Zelda's lullaby, which is my favourite song of the franchise. I wanted to add that in the japanesse version of Botw, the entries of the sheikah slate missions are written in first person, so Link is the one who writes them, and he express his feelings towards some events. When Link gets his memories with Zelda back, the entry sais something along the lines of "I have finished visiting all the 13 places of the ancient images. I remembered everything I have gone with Princess Zelda. In those memories (Mines), Princess Zelda always put lot of effort for fullfilling her duty... Even if it's only just a momment before, I want to save her as fast as possible. I want to see her smiling one more time, with this eyes (By my own)". This adds lots of more weight to the relationship he has with Zelda! Anyways, great video!!! English is not my first lenguage so excuse me if something isn't clear.

I haven't played Age of Calamity (But I've seen all the cutscenes and he seems to be closer with Zelda rather than Mipha), but in Botw they aren't engaged, Mipha wants to marry him but she never proposes. If you read her diary it says that she wants to do it but sadly the calamity happened and she couldn't give the zora's armor to him. She fell in love and decided to make it, but Link never knew about her feelings until 100 years later. So they weren't engaged, at least in Botw.

In Tears of the Kingdom's lore, it's mentioned that Link is actually the one who doesn't own a house, if you go to Terry Town. TotK's canon says that Zelda was the one who requested the constructions on the house Link supposedly bought in BotW. So in TotK's canon, Link never requested the construction and you can see this by how there's no traces of Link ever having lived there. The decorations for weapons you could request in BotW aren't there and (I just checked) even though there's two chairs in the house, the extra chair is for guests, because there's only a single bed with a single pillow.

Great job on an amazing video! But there is more than you think to talk about in Botw that imply a romance between Link and Zelda. 1. Of course as mentioned by Cass (the singing bird) the princess’ love for her chosen knight is what awoke her power. 2. Link was her appointed knight. Once the king died and Hyrule fell as him and Zelda flew from danger and Link encountered the guardians before fainting, Zelda ordered him to leave; that he did not have to fulfill his duty anymore since there is no more Hyrule, yet he stayed to protect her to his last breath. 3. In the Sheikah slate, the game gives you notes about your quest, but fun fact: (and I wish they kept this in the English version) in the Japanese version of the game, Link writes his own journals in the Sheikah slate and talks in 1st person. One of his last notes when you recover all your memories he talks about wishing to see Zelda and her smile. Like BRO! I wouldn’t tell a girl who I just consider a friend that! And at the end of the game, the last footage of Zelda is her giving him the biggest smile ever! 4. And perhaps my favorite one, when you complete the Tarrey Town side quest. At the end you see Hudson’s wedding. During the wedding, you see Bolson throwing rose pedals. If you speak to him back in Hateno after the wedding, he asks you if you “noticed the eternal floating rose pedals?” (Something along those lines) he then claims that “it signifies eternal love”. In the real ending of the game, as the camera pans out and depicts Link and Zelda walking away, there are flower pedals flying into the sky, but not just any flower, Silent Princess pedals. And what do flying pedals signify? Love. Amazing easter eggs! And again, great video!

Ironic that Ganon from wind waker really did try to end the cycle. Even though he was evil, he realized they are stuck in a never ending cycle of death and destruction. Link is always destined to fight him and struggle, Zelda’s kingdom will always get taken over and the citizens often have a fate worse than death. So the story really is about 3 people trapped in a cycle, and there’s no way out, cause link will always win.

In my personal opinion, the connection between Link and Zelda varies greatly between each life, but whatever form it takes, it's always deeply profound and (literally) mythical. Though this does imply that every subsequent Zelda in the royal line is distantly related to SS Link; make of that what you will. Minish Cap/Four Swords: They're kids with a nondescript friendship. It's possible, for now they're literal childhood friends. Ocarina of Time: No. TP Link ended up in Ordon as a ranch hand and he's the direct descendant of OoT Link; He married Malon 100%. ALttP, oracle games, awakening: I headcanon them as long-lost siblings. This Link is a royal bastard, and his uncle knew this. Zelda 1: No. | Zelda 2: Yes. Ocarina of time link became a soldier. You can even find what's implied to be his grave inside the caste grounds in twilight princess. Also there us a scene where Ilia watches link walk off to princess zelda, aware of the fact that he is beyond her reach, it's a whole dramatic thing. How could you forget that? She sits there and says there is no way she can compete with what they have and that she understands. Then at the end of the game he is show riding away from Ordon village leaving it. There are even people looking for him and it shows his empty house. He 100% ditched them for zelda.

That's how I've always interpreted his life anyways, Malon and the ranch being a shelter in the constant shitstorm that is otherwise his life. on TP Link, I'm not as sure of my statement on him as I was before. I swear to god I read that he eventually became mayor in one of the artbooks (hyrule historia?), but alas, I cannot pull up an online source. Either way, I don't really feel a chemistry between this link and zelda, they feel more like respected colleagues that anything. He could be riding off to do a number of things- search for a way to find Midna again, return the master sword to its pedestal, going to wander the lands beyond hyrule, a summons to the castle. But I do agree, the ending does give a wistful sense of "he's outgrown our little village", huh?

There is this video where it goes over Link's diary, in the Japanese version, the quest log was actually written in Link's POV and on the "Beat Ganon" quest or whatever its called. He writes that he wants to see Zelda smile again. But you only got this if you got all the memories, and it is suppose to tie into the secret cutscene at the end of the game.

Anyways, time to end all debates. 1.) Paya doesn't have a crush on Link anymore. They didn't spend time together during the timeskip. 2.) Sidon is engaged. (Not sure why people thought these two were obstacles to Zelink in the first place. Lol.) 3.) Zelda took Link on a "secret trip" to Lover's Pond in ToTK. You'll find a picture. 4.) Link can say that he's found the love of his life when Gerudo women ask him. 5.) Zelda is in love with Link. If you completed BoTW with the memories, secret ending, diary entries and Kass' song you'd know this. 6.) Link's hair tie is in Zelda's secret room. Meaning he lives there or sleeps over. She also hides his new Champion's Tunic in the throne room since he'd most likely find it in the house. 7.) Fujibayashi wrote Skyward Sword, BoTW and now ToTK. Fi even exists in this game. (And Beedle lol.) If Fi exists in this game, then odds are Link and Zelda are reincarnated soulmates from the lore. (Hylia herself is in love with Link.) 8.) The stable has room for two horses. 9.) He hums Zelda's lullaby and other songs while he cooks. 10.) Link's Japanese diary documents how he feels for Zelda with some romantic undertones. 11.) Link and Zelda have the same bed as other couples in Hateno. Like the dye shop guy and his wife. They're all twin beds with one pillow. 12.) Link can vote in the Hateno election. Meaning he's a resident of Hateno. (Also a legal adult by now.) 13.) They've been the main pairing of these games since 1986, but it's been much more romantic since Skyward Sword. & Not sure why Zelink would be surprising to any Zelda fan. Edit: Zelda's voice actress just confirmed it. "I know that Link and Zelda are in a relationship with each other, it's active, there's a lot of care and a lot of listening, and I just love that about it.”

Demise's curse specifically mentions the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero. The way I interpret it is that Link is the only one who reincarnates and Skyward Sword Zelda is the only Zelda who is the reincarnated of Hylia. The other Zeldas are Hylia's decedents. That's why I wouldn't say all Links and Zeldas are destin lovers.

the way I look at it, it depends on the incarnation. They're not exactly the same character every time, there are small variations in personality, appearance and circumstance in ever version, some of those variants are more compatible than others. I think Link is always loyal to Zelda, always destined to protect her, but they're not always lovers.

Well, in BotW, the memories were originally written in First Person (which carried over in most languages other than English), and a lot of what he says heavily implies that he's in love (and a lot of extra subtext such as flower imagery also supports their love). I'd say in WW, SS and BotW Links and Zeldas are all in love. I, II and ALttP they don't really know each other. OoT and TP is more like them playing their roles.

He does and he was supposed to be the same Link from the SNES game but that was changed. Besides that Link probably had a crush on the Zelda of his time, she was pretty cute in either of the drawings of her, that would describe how he thinks this redheaded lookalike is Zelda. Marin also took more or less a bit of an antagonistic role wanting him to just stay on the island while the owl which probably represented his conciousness trying to get him to see the truth and wake him up destroying Cocolint in the process.

I personally don't think they're in love in every game. It's reincarnation, so they aren't the exact same people every time. I think it really depends on the developers needing you (link/player) to care about Zelda. In Skyward Sword, she's Links childhood friend and his love, so you care. They use the Childhood friend tactic in a couple of games, actually. Without a reason to care about Zelda, Link rescuing her all the time starts to feel unfair. I honestly don't we'll ever see an explicit relationship between them. Their relationship is a Princess and her Knight in service kinda thing. At least, that's how I took it in Botw and Oot. In The Windwaker, they are kinda on equal footing, so it seems plausible idk. Ignore this idk what I'm saying XD

I always thought that after Link and Zelda went down to the Land mass that would once become Hyrule they parted and practically never saw eachother again, Link became a farmer or something and Zelda married some guy and became the leader of her followers, her descendants becoming the kings and queens of Hyrule. Link himself gets forgotten and dies, one of his descendants being there to fight evil once it rises again.

7:30 Minish cap is different. In that game, it is revealed at the first bit of gameplay before Zelda turns to stone that they were childhood friends. This is also confirmed in the figurines. My headcannon is that they're too young to develop any romantic feelings yet, but will in the future.

The way I’ve always interpreted it is that it heavily depends on which incarnation of Link and Zelda we’re talking about. All of them are close and care for each other, but not every incarnation of the two develops into a romance. For instance, we have plenty of evidence suggesting that the Hero of Time settled down with Malon and its unlikely that the Hero of Twilight had a romance with his Zelda either. But the Links and Zeldas of Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild definitely read in a more romantic light imo and I suppose a case could maybe also be made for Link and Tera in Wind Waker.

One small issue.... Hylia can be Zelda, but Zelda cannot always be Hylia. After Skyward Sword Hylia returns to her role as the patron Kami (japanese for divine spirit) of Hyrule. She returns to her role as a goddess, evidenced mainly by how you interact with her shrines in BotW. You receive divine blessings by praying to the statues of Hylia. Link essentially becomes her divine agent walking the Earth, with an abnormally large and powerful soul forged for utilizing the Triforce if necessary. It is her descendants, the royal family of Hyrule, who inherit her divine traits.... And name all their Daughters Zelda in her honor. Furthermore, the Japanese have a conceptual seperation between the soul/spirit and the heart and mind. The soul being eternal and karmic but the heart and mind being wholly unique to the incarnation. Just some myriad stuff I've picked up while websurfing about this franchise. Ignore it if you like, headcanon is best canon.
