Maxxis Carnivore UTV tires were designed for out west desert riding conditions, but they also work in the eastern states for hardpack and light sand area. They are not a dune tire, even when aired down because of the stiff 8-ply sidewall.
In this video, we show the hardpack road and sand performance on our Can-Am X3 XRS. The 30" tires are the same size as stock but slightly more narrow. If we had it over again, we would have ordered the 32" tire to gain some clearance.
Performance of this tire has been excellent and we have been pleasantly surprised at the Maxxis Carnivore in all situations.

Awesome! We are staying at FOB Dillon right off the Rockhouse trail. What trails did you ride?

@@WrenchesRides we stayed at the Mud Pit in Bluefield WV. Rode mostly outlaw trails. We rode through pocahontas,bear wallow, buffalo mountain and indian ridge. Our average day was about 120 miles. If you guys want to see all the must see stuff, get a guide.

Where did you get info on a guide?

The guide Chris was a friend of the owner of the mud pit. All you have to do is ask about a guide to the place your staying or a local. Most of the time there is someone jumping at the chance to take someone new out. Will cost you a few bucks, normally about $25 a sxs. Well worth it for a great day of ridding. Plus it helps the locals out a little and you make new friends.

How's the wear in Michigan? I just picked up some really low mile Mongrels and I'll be doing a lot of route and hard dirt roads and some pavement riding. The X3 I ordered will have Carnivores and I'm debating swapping the tires for the more all terrain tires. It's so hard to gauge tires because of a lot of reviews are based on mud and sand and not typical Michigan soil and roads.

@ wrenches and rides, do you think they out perform the bighorns in terrain like what you where riding in @ 1:00 in your video? that's pretty much what I ride in and would like to have as much paddle power to get me from point a to point b faster. and the occasional drags with my buddy's. thanks.

I do not think these can compare to aired down bighorns due to the sidewall and square tire shape. For that type of rising, you have great tires stock.

Hey Brian, how are you finding the X RS fits on the trails here in MI? I’m looking at the same model and I’m curious if you’re having any issues with it being a bit tight. Also, how are you liking it in the snow? Love your vids btw, I actually stumbled on them looking for EGO tool reviews. It’s was a nice surprise to find you’re here in MI with the Can Am too (I’m up in TC).

The XRS in Michigan is perfect. We ride from St Helen to Copper Harbor and do not have any issues with width. The added stability is HUGE. We just added a Polaris Turbo S 4 seater to our shop and that too is 72". Love them!

how do they do on rock climbing, going up hill with rock ledges and a lot of rocks

We have had great experiences with them! They are soft enough to grab and flex. Traction has been superb.

because these are a bit more narrow than the bighorns, I think you will be OK.

in the install video you said that 2.0' were rounded once inflated so the width shrunk. here you said theyre not as wide as the stock bighorns...whats the comparable difference?

Right, in the install video I showed an unmounted Bighorn 2.0 next to an unmounted Carnivore. The bighorn looked much wider, but only is about 2 inches wider due to the sidewall, not the tread width.

@@WrenchesRides ya, the sidewall thread does stick out a bit. Guess it's to protect the 6 ply tires. I have the 2.0' and considering going to the carnivores, just worried how they do in mud

I just installed these on my YXZ. Haven't taken them out for a ride yet. Did you notice slower acceleration due to the weight?

I did not. I did notice a heavier feeling in the steering wheel on the road because they are a flat tire rather than rounded. Could not tell the weight difference.

@@TheIrongutz they were 14" Hiper Technolgy rims. 7" wide with a 4+3 offset.

@@TheIrongutz the carnivores were great, much better at cornering and going through mud but they were a soft compound. I only got a few hundred miles out of them before I had to buy a new set. When the lugs get rounded off they become unstable at high speeds. The back end likes to come around. They're awesome when they're new though.

To bad all maxxis tires suck way to soft get some tusk terrabites will last 5 times longer than any soft tire crap maxxis pushes they should have a soft price way way overpriced. Bighorns by far worst sxs tire on the market all they do is spin out on dirt no traction and on pavement going over 50 they feel like they are going to explode if you like being stranded in the middle of no where bighorns are perfect for you because they will always go flat when you need them most. Been on sxs for over 10 years started on a rzr4.

First thing I did when I got my x3. Got a set of almost new 30inch terrabites on stock wheels for 500$ and the carnivores haven't been used. I will probably use them in sand or snow. And next set of tires will be 32" terrabites on beadlocks.
