Just picked up a squall 60 combo from bass pro shop, I was just in padre Island, my dad lives near the gulf and I'm going to be doing alot more fishing up there, I'm excited to see what it brings, I'm not shure what rod is paired with the combo, just sais squall and wasn't shure if it was just the reel,couldn't find much videos on it

If this reel can handle that you think it wouldn’t have an issue Bottom fishing fluke in 80-100 feet of water ? On good days were dropping 2-4oz of lead on bad days were up to 8 oz of lead

@@JoseRodriguez-mx2hw no smh I was actually about the get the fathom 2 star drag n end up going back with another spinning reel. It's a good reel tho i got the Slammer 3. I never used a bait caster. I've had all the spinfisher . I have a spinfisher VI 4500BLS but I wanted to learn with a baitcaster . I wish i got the Fathom 2 or squall star drag

@@JoseRodriguez-mx2hw nice. How big is the 15 compared to the 12? I've never held the squall or fathom but this season I think I'm going to finally pull the trigger on a fathom 2 star drag. I'm not sure if I'm going to go with a 12 or 15 yet but I've never used a bait caster. I've owned almost every series spinfisher from 3-6. With the 5 being a bait runner. When I went with the skin fisher 6 I went bailless but like I said when I was gunna buy the squall or fathom last season I ended up getting thr slammer 3 so I have those two reels. I deff plan on going with some type of bait caster. Most likely the fathom 2 star drag 12 or 15. What rod are you running ?on my two spinning reels I switch them in and off my ugly stick tiger lite. I don't surf fish. I usually fish from a pier. I know the bailless soi fisher 6 I got is for surf but I got a good deal on it. I really only use the slammer 3 tho anyways.

@@forty-glocc I haven't held a 12 but from video reviews I knew I would prefer the Fathom II 15 SD. If you are interested PM me we can work something out for mine. It has only been to saltwater once and that was in Corpus Bay didn't hook into anything. I've taken it catfishing in freshwater 2 other times without any success as well. I upgraded to the casting special and just waiting for my next trip to the Gulf to try it out. I currently don't have the Fathom II 15SD paired to a rod that is why I would be willing to sell.

I used that Squall 15 Star in the surf for big reds and shark before buying my boat. It has caught more bull reds, 3-4 foot shark, and >22 inch red snapper than all my other reels combined. I'm on the second set of drag washers.

I recently bought a Penn Mariner II 30-50lb rod. I notice you are using a conventional reel. Can I use it with a Penn Fierce 6000LL spinning reel or was this rod designed to be used with a conventional reel?

I catch 4-5ft on a 7" ugly stick with a shakspere reel from Walmart, all the time.10-20lb braid and a metal leader and drag set right you'll be fine with a Barbie combo 😂👌

How does bigger squall perform? Do you have ant backlash issue? because bigger squalls don't have break right. Thank you planning to get one too but im a lil bit worried about not having a break. Thank you

The Squall 20's I use on the boat are level wind star drag with no anti backlash. It's not an issue for me because I use them for trolling and dropping baits, and they perform very well in this role. They are "castable", but I wouldn't try flinging them a mile like I can the Squall 15.
