James, you are not obligated to any of us, I'm pretty sure !! I don't even make things or have any interest in trains / train stations, but I love all the KZbin channels like this one who share what they do. The support you get from us who have subscribed or just passing viewers, while appreciated by you, i hope you don't feel obligated. I think that is the type of thing that can suck all the joy of it all. I don't want to see that for you. You just post and share and interact as much as you want or can. Its the genuine excitement you have for your original project and the joy you show that brings me back as a viewer. Take care!

Hi James, No need to say sorry etc. this is afte rall a hobby to be enjoyed etc, nothing is 'have to do'. When I first saw you were into using a vacuum cleaner to do ballasting I thought you had lost your marbles but on seeing this again on this video you certainly have showed an interesting 'new' way thru your demo's etc.To me, an old timer, there is still new things to be learned. I shan't be doing any ballasting myself as I ballasted some years back but I'm sure others will give your way a go. A nice clean way. Don W. Dunedin.NZ.

Please don't feel pressurised to make videos as the enjoyment you get will dissappear, and I as one of many are gratefull for your videos whenever you are able to make them. Hi James, for Paul's viaduct, it maybe worthwhile having a butress wall between each panel. Allowing the inner radius side of the curves panels to touch each other, but allow the outer radius of the curved sides to be spaced apart and covevered up by the butress walls. For the bottle cap, an extension of the tube from the head unit further into the bottle, would help reduce any ballast etc from being pulled directly from the inlet to outlet. Looks good tho Paul
@BexhillWest3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Paul, the butress suggestion is a good one. Also, I have experimented with extending the tube, but found that there was no real benefit, and the print process becomes more complex. Provided the collection bottle is stood upright then there seem to be no issues with material passing from inlet to outlet. To be clear, the outlet pipe of the design as shown in the video does extend below the inlet of the bottle cap. Thanks for the suggestions, James

Hi James, another informative and insightful video. Ever since you first aired the ballasting system all those months ago, I've been seriously impressed with it. Hi James, as railway modeller(LB&SCRly) I've found Bexhill West immensely enjoyable and interesting, you seem to be the "mother of invention" and no problem stalls your progress for long. 1. The ballast vacuum nozzle and bottle filter cap I'd like to try out so, if they are available could you let me know how to purchase them. 2. Unfortunately, Templot, a Windows app, won't work on my Apple Mac O/S unless I create a virtual partition: loads of hassle and may not be worth all the trouble anyway. 3. I'm trying to make drawings of West Croydon's Engine shed and station using LibreCad from original drawings, although the printed dimensions are not sharp enough to read; many of the features of the buildings, like engine shed windows*, main doors and roof ventilators were standardised patterns used all over the railway system, even before 1923 Grouping so, it makes sense to draw these as .dwg blocks to paste into other future drawings. * the type seen in the Bexhill Goods shed - you can see exactly the same window type in photos of the LBSCR loco depot at New Cross (Deptford).

Next time "The Bexhill West Ballast Centrifuge and Wash Unit" - why manually just roughly get leafs of your garden railway track if you could wash your ballast and refill it with a machine in one go! 😏 Yes, may could be done. Yes, would clearly be overdone and I would guess it not gona fit loading gauge of most model railways.
