This month was kind of a drag financially for me as well. I had to dip into my emergency fund for some unexpected renting issues with my current roommates moving out and finding another to replace them. At first, I felt bad about falling backward in funds, but that emergency fund is there for that reason. As long as we have an end goal in mind, we continue on our path to one day "live like no one else". Thank you for not sugar-coating this debt freedom process! It is a journey.

Aja, i remember when you were almost at 200k in debt...girl you're ALMOST done. I started my journey the same time as you and was able to pay everything off in 1 year (38K). I know that feeling and I remember being just a few months from being finished and just wishing it was here already. You got this girl and I'm proud of you! Always ignore the haters (easier said that done, i know) but it comes from a place of jealousy (always remember that). Anyways, i'm looking forward to that video in a few months, when you push that "submit" button for your final payment. We are all cheering you on!

You're honestly my favourite person on the internet. Your transparency around finances is incredibly refreshing, and its a breath of fresh air from all haul videos on here where people just spend spend spend. My financial goal isn't about debt at all, its just about saving and making the most of the money I make (i.e. not just buying random shit, but buying things and experiences I really appreciate), and your videos are so inspiring. Keep doing what you're doing and ignore those who try to drag you down - their issue isn't you, its them.

Aja, I totally understand your anxiety about dumping money in times when your income is questionable. I will say this. My husband and I buckled down and paid off over $300k in student loans over 3 years. In the last year we got the balance down to 30k and just one day decided to take our emergency fund and wipe out the debt. We had only 2 months of expenses in savings left, but the trade off of removing the anxiety from waiting another 6 months to pay it down was worth it. You'll be surprised how fast you'll build up your savings when you don't have bills. All that to say, regardless of what others say, make the choices that give you peace, keeps your blood pressure down, and on track toward your goals. You're almost done. You got this. Forget the haters, get your coin, and wave that flag of financial independence at the end of the year.

When I purchased last in November I believe the shipping to Canada had come down to 10$USD, for a while, it was 22$+, sometimes more expensive than the planner itself! Hi! Hope all is well 😊 I follow the same fund plan as you - as a parent, there is absolutely no way to only have $1000 in an emergency fund...and, no way to zero balance either. I’m fine with $300 remaining each week, no no less than that! I’m just too cautious to be risky like that.

Amazing progress! You're doing fantastic and you're almost there! I follow Dave Ramset too and I wanted to touch on what you have mentioned in the video. 0 based budget means giving every dollar a name. You mentioned that you always have money in your account and you never have $0 in your account. That's not what it means. With giving every dollar a name. Say you want to put $200 from your budget and label that as "buffer", and then labeling where the other money goes. It's not suppose to be at $0 of your account after each month. I just wanted to clarify :) Aja, Dave Ramsey has a group on Facebook called The Dave Ramsey Baby Steps, a community where people have the same goal to pay off debt and a lot of people ask for advice on there too. From what I saw there is a worksheet from Dave Ramsey that helps you with unstable income. Keep it up! You're almost there!
@de5072
@de5072 5 жыл бұрын
i do a zero based budget but i include my buffer money for my main bills account in there. i treat it as a sinking fund. once i budget out my money *i always low ball my checks*so the remainder is the buffer plus whatever few dollars in my budget is left over. it helps me see how much im not actually using. i hate having $1 bills and coins so thats usually what is budgeted in my buffer category

You’re doing great girl. I also listen to Dave Ramsey and have the same money mindset. Keep being real and sharing what you care most about. There will always be criticism, use it as fuel 🖤

Also love, 1,000 is only a starter emergency fund. Once you have 1,000 dollars you should keep adding to it every month. But yes it is the first step!

you’re doing great :) can’t wait to see how your planner turns out maybe take inspo by your DIY debt diagram in your notebooks where you provide outlines and people can plug in their own info and color and highlight as they go :). love the warmth in your hair color

Girl, all i have is a credit card bill to pay off (there is still an upside to living at home at 30 and breaking my parents hearts in the process 😉) but since finding your channel and the content that you make - it makes me so stoked to get that balance down to €0 owed and more excited to go full throttle into saving for my own space! Im super excited to see you get to your final stretch and hear you scream! good luck from Ireland! x

i think it's a definition thing. It's not an emergency fund outside of your 1000 it's a hill and valley. You work freelance so you have extra money to cover the hills and valley. emergency fund is for emergencies. You know you'll have short months and thats what the hill and valley is for. nice work on everything. keep up the good work! (dave talks about it if you listen to the podcast a lot. you'll hear it)

justin vesci I agree, to me an emergency fund is something you’re not planning for at all. To me, most things in life are not emergencies. You can predict hills and valleys to some extent, you can predict that your car will need repairs and that one day you will need a new car, etc etc. planning and knowing your own needs and budget is so important!

Dave Ramsey says you should have 3-6 months of living expenses in your EF. He recommends starting with $1000 before you focus on paying off debt.
