The stallions are absolutely beautiful and it's amazing how gentle they were being with each other. A perfect example of why people shouldn't make a fuss just when the animals being loud and not doing anything wrong. Maybe a stallion is not perfect for every level of Horsemanship however people get lazy with a little extra training stallions can be some of the most well-behaved well natured rewarding horses you will ever own
@alycewich44725 ай бұрын
It takes a lot more work and facilities to care for a stallion properly than it does a gelding. Yes, we need stallions to perpetuate the different breeds, but any that are not registered or high quality need to be gelded. That way they're not looking for mares and can be kept with all the rest of the horses. I've known of stallions that have been kept away from any other horses unless they are going to breed them during the breeding season. They live alone which is not a great life for a herd animal. For a riding animal, I prefer a gelding as there are no hormones so I don't have to deal with a sometimes moody mare or a stallion who is looking for a mare to breed. Plus, they are ready any time you want to ride or just hang out.

@alycewich44725 ай бұрын
That doesn't mean that they wouldn't act even worse if there were mares close to them. Since it takes a while for the testosterone to completely leave their bodies, the calming down period isn't immediate. Another thing is that there is still sperm left for a little while also so if one of the newly gelded stallions gets with a receptive mare, there could be a surprise baby 11 months later. Of course, HPHS knows that but maybe not all their viewers.

You are all amazing for the work that you do, and its great to see the ones that could be saved rehabilitated and finding homes. With the horses that have brands or markings that identify them, do the original breeders or owners ever contact you guys about the horses? Like to let you know about them, or maybe even give them a home themselves? I mean once you sell a horse there is no real way to know what will happen to it during its life. Don't think horse are over populated at all; if so, why the need and actions to hunt down free-roaming "wild" horses? To tame them? Why? To get the horses off of someone's land, perhaps a billionaires land who wants that land for farming, ie, growing and selling rice to China! Horses are not the issue, really, but we have made them an issue due to our behavior/temper tantrums about so much... Thank God for HorsePlus and all animal rescues... @dreamcatcher38616 ай бұрын
I’m amazed that Tawnee and Jason won’t deal with Julie? Why is this? It must be a mistake. Fletcher Farms is also known as, The big hoof foundation and is incredible. The only issue I could see is that Julie buys from kill-pens/feed lots, which puts money straight back into the kill-buyers pockets. Kill-buyers go to auctions, buy the Belgian horses cheep, then sell them for double what they paid. When you buy horses from these people, they then use that money to go outbid rescues at auction. When the kill-pens say the horses are going to ship, they’re not, they’ve often been kept for some time, fed so they look healthier, then they’re going to ship to the next auction in the next state, to be sold for a profit. Could Tawnee comment if this is true about not working with Julie and why, if it is true? I’m in no way criticising Julie or Tawnee, I’m just trying to understand.

I’m thankful to you for making these separate intake videos. The buyout program is saving so many horses from horrendous lack of care. ETA: Although the lyrics were amazingly fitting(!), I would actually prefer it without the music. I’d rather hear what’s going on.

I liked the music, but you're right sometimes i couldn't hear the discussion about the specific animal. But they were short handed with Kory gone too.

I have a feeling, which I also find totally ironic, that kill buyers are going to auctions and buying these horses for a couple hundred and then coming to you guys to resell them! They make a little money, do not have to trek half way across the country saving time and gas money.....is it wrong when I had this thought I gave a little evil laugh that you have the auction house and the kill buyers on the ropes? so worth every dime to see the horses saved and have them do the buying for you!!!! I know it is terrible but I love that you are putting everyone in their place while saving horses.....your persistence on finding the loop holes and working your way around things gives me the confidence in your ability to get those laws changed!!!!! way to go guys!!!

Doesn’t that mean they’re directly funding the slaughter pipeline? Now the kill buyers have plenty of money to get horses that’ll actually ship
@wilsonroo166 ай бұрын
@@Sweetpeaslovrr no it means they are turning them into rescuers rather than kill buyers

@@wilsonroo16 If they are purchasing horses from kill buyers they are giving kill buyers money to not only go get horses that can actually ship but to also have money to look for more neglected animals they can neglect for a couple weeks before delivering them the next buy out day. It’s a win win for everyone. Their followers believe they’re saving horses and the traders and kill buyers have a place to send horses they otherwise wouldn’t be able to profit off of

@@Sweetpeaslovrr I don't agree and the facts don't pan out that way.....they may be making a slight profit by selling here but not enough to turn their whole operation around. If you look at the actual shipping costs versus the cost per pound they are better off doing this.

I may be in the minority but I find the music highly distracting. I love this organization and contribute monthly. The vets are great and obviously care very much about the horses. I also look forward to these buyout videos but please, less music.

Or turn down to make it background music, so we can hear the vets talking.

@@AreYouKittenMeRtNownot me that deleted this time, and the comment I deleted in the chat during the after tornado video was because, think of it, you just survived and were able to help others in need, you're in awe & someone says to leave God out of it? God is Love, right? Well... But yes wasn't me that deleted your comment.🕊️
