May Day Steam and Disruption at Carlisle.

Recorded on a hot largely sunny day in Carlisle.
Braunton brought in the Fellsman from Blackpool via the S&C and returned by that route.
Some long engineer's trains also.
Problems on the WCML and at Petteril Bridge Junction were causing problems. Track problems near Carnforth were causing 50 minute delays to WCML trains then an apparent points failure at Petteril Bridge blocked both the Tyne Valley line to and from Newcastle and the Settle & Carlisle line for 2 hours!
Note my error - 70811 is hauling the Logs!!

Well, I had never heard or seen Beaunton before (if my memory isn't gone), but what a beautiful loco and great shots (and the other finds too from Royal Mail to PRIDE, etc.)

I think it came to Carlisle a couple of times last year. It started its life looking like Tangmere but has rebuilt in the 50s without the 'air smooth' casing and without the chain valve gear.

A day of many delays and that included my train home that departed 10 late because Braunton set fire to the grass between the Newcastle and S&C lines. We were told it would be 20 late so not as bad as expected.

Ive not seen one but it would be a fantastic prototype. Modern, heritage with charters, plenty of freight and light locos (as we see in these videos)
