Thank you so much for the tip. English roses always struggle in my garden. Black spot, yellow leaves, and the canes always stay so thin. My knockout roses do well, with no help from me other than a late winter/early spring prune and sprinkle of rose tone.

Hi Cara! (hope I spelled your name right?) Thank you SO much! The lupine was such an unexpected surprise. I have tried for at least 5 years to grow them with no success. Last year I winter sowed some, threw them in the soil with no amendments, and boom, they showed and and took me back with their beauty. I'm so happy to have them. I do have to move them this fall since they are much too big for the front of the border (good problem to have!) but i'm worried about how they'll transplant. I'll be sure to collect some seeds to start news ones just in case. Thanks for watching!

@@HookedandRooted Hi! Yes you did spell it right! Most people go with a K not a C so you are spot on! Sometimes the garden is funny like that isn’t it! When we try the hardest sometimes things don’t work out and sometimes all it takes is a little “neglect” for things to thrive. It’s awesome when you can just throw something in and walk away and it thrives 😊😊

@HookedandRooted Жыл бұрын
Hi Michele! My iris I love ordering from Schreiners Iris. As for flowers I start some from seed. And most of my perrenials come from home depot or lowes. I occasionally buy something from a local nursery. I don't order many plants by mail because I prefer to see the plant in person.

Very much looking forward to watching your garden grow and develop 😊

How about some delphiniums in place of the variegated iris in the center of the Carl Forester Grasses by the shed? They'll give bloom height before the grasses get too tall and the grasses will hide the foliage after they're done blooming.

What a gorgeous garden, I could watch it all day 😍 Thank you for sharing! I specially love all the purple nepeta at the front of the house and also the overgrown blue spruce you are planing to have removed. I wonder if you could put it up for sale or donate it, instead of cutting it down? Would be such a waste 😫 id specially pay good money for a mature tree as beautiful as that one. There are companies that can dig it up successfully for a fee and possibly transplant it, too. Thanks again for such a treat, showing us around your peaceful garden.

Steph, it's BEAUTIFUL!!! Do you know how many allium are planted in each grouping/cluster? And how many allium are in your front walkway bed? My mom said iris are disappointing, don't last long & aren't worth planting, but they are GORGEOUS in your garden. How long do they keep their blooms? I know you mentioned reblooming iris. Do their blooms last longer? Thank you for sharing!
@HookedandRooted2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa! I have 3 clumps in a group of allium planted. I bought 1 and divided it in 3 and they doubled in size in just 2 growing seasons. As for the Iris, reblooming Iris come back a second time and bloom about 6 weeks after the first bloom. If you go with Iris, this one might be a type to look for. They really are a beautiful perrenial to fill the gap between when the daffodils and tulips bloom, to when the summer perrenials pick up.

Hi Beatrice! It hurts my heart to think of the day I'll have to remove that tree. It is just so beautiful. It's a shame that tags aren't always accurate. It sure would help make planning a permanent spot for the tree easier. For now, George has been pruning the back carefully as to not take away the roundness of the tree, but to give some space from it crashing into the house. Birds also love to nest in it 💚
