I'll take Laccaria laccata for eating anytime. They hold up to cooking without falling apart, and freeze well after sauteeing in butter. They have a nice mushroomy flavor. Good for quiche, omelet, with rice, any mix of mushrooms. They can be so plentiful. Nice mushroom walk!

Out Amanita hunting yesterday and found two Suillus Americanus. Nice thing about the PNW is that we get some mushrooms that are confused as to when they should show up. Really weak Spring but after the worst Fall EVER I will take it.

Psilocybin containing mushroom saved my life. The drastically reduced my benzodiazepine withdrawal allowing me to quite illicit pill addiction after three years of heavy daily use before it would had became medically dangerous to quit. it has also helped me to survive depression

Funny you mentioned Northern Europe, I live in Sweden and my grandmother gathered and cooked Gyromitra Ensculenta, and yes, she cooked them twice. I've eaten them as a child (borned -80) but I don't remember either the taste or the consistency. My grandmother always said they were good for the stomach :|

Amanita Muscaria, and its close cousins, are the best anti-depresent. It must be slow simmered and turned into a Muscimol water extract. It saved me from my 20-year dependency on ssri,s. They are dangerous in high doses when raw or dehydrated.

Those glowing mushrooms look like Omphalotus Illudens a 100% toxic look alike that glows in the dark, usually a little brighter orange, and usually less defined but none the less true gills.

They are only around for a very limited time before they rot, also the only way to properly identify a mushroom is to look underneath at the gills sand the stipe, which is the aim of this channel. Even if I were foraging alone without a camera I wouldn't upturn mushrooms to see what they look like underneath for identification. It actually agitates the mushroom and causes it to drop loads of spores into different air currents, making it a life-giving practice to the fungus. It does not hurt the overall health of the fungi, and in fact can help it. It's the only way to properly identify mushrooms.
