“Tuck and roll,” 😂 Good on you for persevering in the wind. Lovely location. I have a similar reaction to fever dream writing, and I am always surprised and pleased when it works for me. In the past decade, I think one other Indigenous author has made the Women’s Prize longlist: Louise Erdrich (for The Sentence).

Oh wow on locale. Made me think of the day Mount St Helens erupted. I was in Surrey, B.C., running in a school track meet. We heard the explosion that far away. We thought it was a gunshot

Oh wow. What a memory. I was a kid in Connecticut. I remember being on a road trip to Florida a few weeks later and our station wagon getting covered in ash.
