So....this caterpillar book. Hmm....I like monster romance but I don't know if I can do this one 🤣🤣. For once upon a readathon I'm currently reading The Sea Witch by Rebecca F. Kenney its a fun one! Next Kidnapped by the Pirate by Keira Andrews and that ones M/M. So you can add 400 points lol

I DNF'd Rhapsodic because I didn't care for the characters or romance (which is kind of the main focus). So unfortunate since I thought it would be something I love Also I don't get really dark romance at ALL. No hate to anyone else of course but it creeps me out to enjoy that for me personally so it was interesting to hear about Shattered Glass without having to read it myself. Also I don't think I could like the love interest if he was there through her assault and did nothing. It's hard to come back from that (Also I'm 1/3 of the way through Possession, book 3 in the Mate Games and omg! I don't ever binge series but here I am haha, thanks for putting it on my radar! it worked out so well for me)

Oh good Im glad Im not the only one! I keep hearing how good Rhapsodic is that I feel like “im the problem” lol. I personally have a different idea of what dark romance should be compared to what is mainstream now a days. And this was definitely more of an abusive dark rather that an “eerie” dark romance FOR SURE. Yeah him being there just made me mad on its own, but then his treatment of her just pissed me off. It was so disconnected. YOU’RE WELCOME!!! Im glad you love it ❤️❤️❤️ Once you read Ch 1 of Book 4 tell me…the writers hit their stride and its such a good story

I loved the Grapes of Wrath now I have to go back and read it again because I don't remember the turtle flashbacks.

My teacher told us that we wouldn't like it, and that we still wouldn't like it the 2nd and 3rd time we would read it....so he didn't set us up for success. Its not a flashback in the book. I just remember that every other chapter was about a turtle crossing a road and it was meant to be a metaphor of the family moving out West.

I liked Rhapsodic and was super eager to read part 2, even going so far as to wait forever for my library's state wide exchange to get it in for me. Got book 2 and lasted about five pages before putting it down, so meh. I did like Bewitched by the same author, though. It kind of gave me The Mummy vibes, if Evie actually went for the Imhotep. With witchy and random shifter stuff mixed in. It was just a trashy mash up of most stuff I like tbh.

Yeah Bewitched was apart of my most anticipated books vid, that one sounds bomb! Maybe I should just jump into that one. The Mummy is my jam 😎. Idk how you feel but the series gets ruined for me when the following books dont live up to the previous ones. Its funny though, I will think better of previous books if the ones later on in the series are better.

I think you take on the rape scene in Shattered was thoughtful. It made me think of when I first saw Death Wish with Charles Bronson the rape scene was so graphic and disturbing it was hard to watch and while it could have just been mentioned I think it probably changed a lot of young men for the better. It helped to de-romanticize rape and I think that is a good thing.

Yeah thats a very good point. Ive never seen that. I feel like their was an opportunity to do that in this book, more so on the end of showing the trauma effecting a person in how they would interact with someone, but it didnt. The love interest is just “to hot” to resist. That just makes me mad.

@@maggiesbooksandstuff I don't know about the intent in the movie mostly it shows much anger it caused the husband and father because it was a mother and daughter that were attacked. The movie was made in the 70's more of an action/thriller movie big enough to end up with 2 or 3 sequels

also the prince charming book is the kinda dark i don't like because it seems like everything is there for shock value and has no other purpose.

Yeah I enjoyed rhapsodic but felt no need to continue the series. I think maybe cuz it’s half urban fantasy
