I remember A List of Cages being super rough emotionally. Massive trigger warnings for child abuse. I read it in 2018 so I don't remember it super clearly beyond it being a very uncomfortable sucker punch.

The writing style in the painted man isn’t very dense so I think you will be fine! I quite liked the first book, but had some issues with it and just never continued 👀

Which issues? I love that book. My issues came into play more in the later books. I think I liked the 3rd one the least. I just didn't need that much back story on Inevera. I like my devious, cunning characters and don't need a backstory on every detail of why they became that way.

Honestly I read it a while ago so I’m not really sure (maybe something to do with the female characters? But that’s not necessarily right sorry 🙈) I remember finding it interesting and a good story but just had no urgent desire to keep going. I think the second book follows different characters so maybe that played into it 🤷‍♀️. Sorry I couldn’t be more exact!

Aww, I thought Hamilton was gonna do it. Ah well. I did not love Get a Life, Chloe Brown but didn't hate it. And I think the reason is my personal issue. I plan to read the next book to find out. I did not know there would be live shows for the Mistborn era 1. Looking forward to those. And hope you and Ashleigh are less confused in the Windwitch live show. Fyi I dnf Credence even though I normally like Penelopes books because throughout the book the mc is developing relationship with 3 different men but only gets with one in the ends so Its basically just a romance love tringle (also all the dudes she is getting with are related)
