I'm Farrah from bookstalgic and I have rediscovered my love of reading again in my 40s. :)
I enjoy finding time to squeeze my love of reading into my busy life of work and family. I love taking lots of walks in nature to try to appreciate all that I can each day.
Favorite genres: it's mixed bag of Classics, Sci-Fi, Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery/Thriller, Classic Horror (not too scary lol), Nature/Environment, Non-fiction, Health, Religon, History and Speculative/Paranormal Romance
On my channel, you'll find cozy/chill reading vlogs that highlight some of the natural beauty I see outside on my daily walks around our farm.
I try to post 2 vlogs per month as well as a reading wrap up at the end of each month (I sometimes get behind, though!) :)
I hope you enjoy my channel and thank you so much for stopping by!

Take care of yourself first, Farrah. I read The Night Circus years ago. I’m interested in watching your review. Who doesn’t love Fred Rogers. I feel like we could all benefit from listening to him.

Thank you, Floss! 💖. The Night Circus has been interesting so far. It feels a little Tim Burton”- ish if that makes sense. I’m about 20% in and I wouldn’t say it’s blowing me away yet, but it’s keeping my interest! I agree about Fred Rogers, what a gem he was :). ✨

I came across something on Mr. Rogers last night on Facebook and it just put me in tears. What a kind human he was! He reminds me a lot of my Oklahoma Grammy who passed away when I was barely married. Such a gentle person. Happy May reading, my friend!

I raised my son on Mister Rogers Neighborhood! We are big fans in this house! We play songs from the show every morning just about. Love your list. The one on how roads shape our planet looks very interesting as well. My Dad and I were just chatting about that topic not too long ago! Have a lovely month! 🌷

Mister Rogers was such a beautiful person! I am really enjoying Crossings so far. It's pretty crazy to see how fast certain animals have evolved in order to survive in the environments we keep changing and taking away from them. I really like the writing so far. : I hope you have a great rest of your month too!

a book/hiking group sounds like fun! I saw a booktuber say they take a month off every year, which sounds like a good idea as I agree it can be a bit intense sometimes, before I started making videos I never thought that by starting to make my own ones that I would end up watching a lot more too, but that is the way it goes haha. I wish we had Mr Rogers in the UK, he seems like a good egg.

Yes! I was thinking about taking a month off too or maybe even the whole summer 😆. I will always be a “watcher” of BookTube, but I think trying to keep both going constantly and keeping up with all the channels I subscribe to has been a bit draining for me! I’m glad most of you can relate. And yes, I was really happy to find that hiking bookclub! It’s pretty low key, just doing some trails in this wooded, waterfall preserve near me and hopefully it will be fun! I’m excited to read that Fred Rogers book! What a gem he was :)

I hear you about trying to find time to film! The farm has been super busy lately, so it makes it difficult to find time. Loved The Night Circus when I read it, but that was years ago when I read it. lol If you are a Fred Rogers fan, definitely check out the documentary 'Won't You Be My Neighbor?' It was fascinating. I was going to mention reading 'The Good Neighbor,' but you've already done that. ;p Happy reading! :)

Glad you enjoyed The Night Cirucs when you read it. It definitely has a unique premise from anything I've ever read before! That documentary has been on my list for ages! Mr. Rogers... hmm... he's good for children; they seem to connect with him in a beautiful and sweet way. But perhaps adults have perverted his message into some tool for their own advantage - a sorta hesitant tool predicated on a distorted love, the kind Rogers would've been against. Great men are often taken out of context to suit the times and so on; but it all comes to this eventuality whereupon their words are no longer so easily discernible. Even the greatest men are soon digested and forgotten. Ah, well, it's all nonsense. We're here now. And we're real. We understand. We love... yes, Mr. Rogers - yes to you sir and all the good you have done! Also, take your time with the burn out. Lol. I still dunno how you manage with all these comments and messages. Haha. Hopefully, your channel doesn't grow too much, I don't want to see you get in over your head. I feel the size it is now is good, and good for your temperament. But I dont wanna speak for you. Lol. Always appreciated.

Thanks! I'm not worried about it growing too much and it's a slow and steady jog, much like my Read What You Own Challenge :D. @@bookstalgic 😁 Talking about balance, I have found a good reading and writing balance for myself. Lol. I'm one of those melancholic writers - a bit of a verbose angle in how I express myself through my writing. Like I said, I read really only classics and philosophy, and so it shows in my style. I don't like too much straightforward writing, I'm too independent of a thinker to be told what it is that I should relate to. And that's the beauty of things like the Bible - it is that element of interpretive understanding, the metaphors, the imagery . . . that's why I love those like Emerson. I find a more "convoluted" writing style to be more expressive. Of course that's different than a pretentious writing style, self important and smug and so on.
