Well done. I did this tag a while back and it's still one of my favorite videos that I've done. It was pretty fun... Thanks for that NY libby tip... I'm going to check this out... Just what I need... More options. 😩 Thanks for the video.

Haha, sorry for adding more reading chaos to your life 🤣. Yes, I watched that video you did! 👍

Hi Farrah. I really enjoyed your responses to this tag, which was a really fun one to do. I love that you use your library so much. It's also really cool that you have access to the entire NY Library.
@bookstalgicАй бұрын
Thanks Pat! I was so excited to learn that I could get a card from there. It really expanded my options as my local libraries are very small. I'm curious if other big cities in different states also offer this sort of thing to their residents! :)

I'm all about supporting the local library, whether that's using their services, chacing books/other stuff out from them, going to their events, or shopping their sales; I just wish I could go more often. That's cool that your local library has done away with fines, though I understand the practice of them. Fun tag video!

Thanks ED! I hear you, there’s a lot that I miss out on because of our schedule and I didn’t go for a long time before my kids started playing sports, but I’m so thankful libraries exist for the times I am able to go! :)

Thanks for tagging me! I definitely agree it was embarrassing paying fines 😅 it's nice you have access to Hoopla as well. My library used to have it but I also found the selection lacked.

Yeah, Hoopla is great for older stuff, but maybe not for the most popular or trendy books, that’s for sure 😊

You can feel your appreciation for libraries throughout the video which is great to see. Our local libraries don't really do any events or book sales, although I know Manchester central library does and I am hoping to get to one of their book sales this year. Great video 🫶

Thanks Ven! I don't know what it is about libraries, I just love them :D. I can always feel good energy in the ones I go into, if that makes sense. I hope you're able to get to a book sale in one of the Manchester ones one of these days!

This was such a great tag, and I thank you for tagging me to do it. :) I'll be filming this one sooner rather than later. I really want to watch more foreign films. I have been mixing them in with other stuff, and I gave myself a goal to watch at least ten this year. :)
@bookstalgicАй бұрын
That’s a great goal to have and I’m going to try to do the same! I watched the 1954 Godzillla last night and Godzilla Minus One last week so off to a good start! Looking forward to when you do the tag! 😊

Living in the only French province of Canada, the city public library is the best option for me. Luckily I can read in English and it gives me more options especially with ebooks… Have a great Sunday Farrah! It’s been raining for days here… ☔️

Great answers to the tag Farrah. I wish I used my local library more - maybe this summer I'll drop in and browse :)

Thanks, Fred! I remember you saying in one of your old videos that you didn’t use the library very much in your area. There were many years that I didn’t either, but now that it’s so convenient with being across from the school, I really enjoy it! I hope you’re able to find a good library that you like one of these days, grab a coffee and browse through their ancient history section! 😊

❤📚📚❤️ I think it's amazing that you use your library so much! I have Libby and CloudLibrary. The library I check books out from also has a Friends of the Library Bookstore. I purchase books there, it's very nice and definitely thrifting prices, and also helps out the library.
@bookstalgicАй бұрын
I have never heard of CloudLibrary! That's really cool that your library has a bookstore you can support that. I love that idea! I skipped our library book sale this year, because of the read what you own challenge, but I hope to go to it next year to support them! :)
@starlasell5698Ай бұрын
@bookstalgic Yes, I haven't purchased any for a while, but many times in the past! I have three different library cards (three towns I go to regularly), two are attached to Libby app, but the other one uses CloudLibrary, so I guess it's up to the library which app they use.

I always think it’s interesting to compare England and the States because so many things are so similar, but little things (like the library) may have differences. I need to visit England one of these days and check out some libraries! 😄

im so happy they got rid of fines too, my biggest one was like 90.00 when i would get dvds 🤣i stopped going to the library for years because i felt like i couldn't trust myself haha

Haha, yeah, I went through a phase of no-library too! It's easy to feel judged when they scan your card and can see the "late return" history! I'm glad yours got rid of the fines too! :)

Thank you so much for the tag! This will be an interesting one as I used to use the library a lot and am only now just getting back to it through Libby.

I definitely use Libby more than borrowing physical books too! I have so many physical ones here, and I feel like I have to get to them, but there is something so fun about picking out a bunch from the library and taking them home 😊. Hope you have a great rest of your week, Kat!

Great video 👍 Library definitely a great resource. I like to borrow documentaries from the library. Here we have 3 weeks before item is due back and if no one has book on hold they will automatically renew. Also no more late fees for a few years.
@bookstalgicАй бұрын
Thanks Elaine! That’s great that your books auto-renew like that. Come to think of it, I think ours do to with the physical books, but the ebooks we have to manually renew them ourselves. Do you guys have the Libby app or Hoopla there too for ebooks and audio?
@CobaltdragonАй бұрын
@@bookstalgic Hi Farrah, ours is same doesn’t renew ebook or audio. Yes we have Libby I have tried a few times, but I find audio reads too slow and I get distracted 🤣🤣🤣 We used to be connected to other libraries in Ontario but now just down to my local library.

@bookstalgic lol we are rural too but our libraries don't really work together much. This year a lot of them are even discussing removing interlibrary loan.... oof
@bookstalgicАй бұрын
@@TriumphalReads Ughhhh, that’s not good, why on earth would the do that?! Too much snow to transport the books back and forth? 😆
@TriumphalReadsАй бұрын
@bookstalgic I don't know. There is a cab or something that brings them all the regional libraries on the same route. But yeah it's probably some cost saving something or other. The problem is when my library only has like 20k adult books and maybe a couple hundred nonfiction published in the last decade lol.
@LaurieInTexasАй бұрын
It's interesting how Hoopla is different for various library systems. I have access with my Houston library card which is free for all Texans. It originally allowed us to borrow ebooks and audiobooks as well as movies, music, and tv shows. We could borrow 8 titles each month. A few years ago they removed ebooks and audiobooks and reduced to only 2 titles each month. I was bummed and stopped using it. I also have access to Hoopla through a library in Iowa where I lived a couple of years ago. They allow all media and 10 titles per month. I use it quite a bit. My hometown library doesn't have Hoopla at all so I'm glad to still have my Iowa card, but I'm sure that will expire at some point.
@bookstalgicАй бұрын
Wow, that’s too bad they took so much away from your Houston Hoopla! That’s great you can still use your Iowa one. It really is weird how it varies from library to library!

Lol, here's a little story about a library experience of mine. There was this female librarian about my age at the front while I was checking out the "Encylopedia of Philosophy" (this was when I really first dipped my toes into philosophy). Nice person, but she kept teasing me and asking me questions. She was either flirting with me or thought it was weird that I would get a book like that. I got annoyed and told her, "Look, I just want to get home and read, so please let me do that." She apologized - which it really didn't much matter to me - and let me go. I don't particular like those types of experiences, I usually feel like the person is gonna sell me something. Haha. But other than that I like to go read at the library sometimes.
@bookstalgicАй бұрын
I’m sorry you had an unpleasant experience with your librarian- that’s a little weird that she was teasing you about a book! It would make me not feel like going back if that happened to me! Some people don’t really know how to read the energy of the scene until you flat out have to ask them to stop. I hope you’re able to enjoy the library in the future regardless of the sassy librarian!
@scoutdarpy4465Ай бұрын
@@bookstalgic Eh, I'm sure she's an alright person - but you get a feeling about those you meet who haven't had to wrestle with fate just yet, and it shows in their word choices, their attitude, and even their facial expression (the difference between a self-obsessive smile and a genuine smile), etc. People who haven't been truly tested by life are not the ones I really wanna know.
