I think this let's play definitely stumbled on an an under-served niche interest and I hope you continue it. Many simmers play fundie type fams (love em or hate em) but most let's plays shy away from this type of gameplay because of the blowback they might receive, I guess? I love how gentle you are with your characters--lol totally different than me. As the Watcher, I would have been raining fire and brimstone down for their perversion of my faith.

I think you're right on your analysis. I totally understand Simstuber's hesitation. The internet is notoriously mean, but I feel like it's changing, even just a little and I think it's important with someone of my background to, sort of, give permission? I guess to poke fun at ourselves and our beliefs. I wouldn't endorse the Fundie lifestyle for obvious reasons (that we will defo see as the series progresses) but I can't deny that their theology is a more extreme version of what I take for granted is true... And if it's okay to question their beliefs it's FOR SURE okay to scrutinize mine. I would love to see more Simstubers attempt this, even if they don't have a faith because the sad truth of it all is that, in some ways, the ripple effects of this belief system affects us all and everyone's position is valid.

I just have a suggestion for when the Joseph children are older. You could create gardening and housework clubs that would make it easier for the kids to help with chores and housework.

That is brilliant! I am for sure going to do that. I may even include some of the neighbor kids from other families as a "natural" way for the kids to get to know each other. That way, when it's time to marry them off, they already know each other.

I’m excited to watch this new challenge. I recently started my own farming big family challenge so I’ve added some of your ideas to mine. One tip I figured out once I started getting a lot of babies. Stick one in the baby carrier of dad while he does his farm work, especially if you get an infant that needs to be held all the time. Can’t wait for the next one!

Even though I am absolutely bias, I still think that people in these belief systems aren't trying to do a net bad and I believe that it's so important to not loose site of the real life people that are stuck in these things. Tolerance goes both ways, and I could have never started a challenge like this (and filmed it) if I was trying to just be a big meany, lol. I also LOVE the respectful discussion that gets to happen in the comments ❤️ I would love any shape of your families. I'm really enjoying this and thanks so much for uploading the house to the gallery. (I'd be happy to see/use any other lots you are using for this LP.) I'm planning on using Newcrest too and adding a church and maybe some type of garden/farm shop. I'll add other families on most of the other lots. not sure how you feel about mc command center mod but some of the things I absolutly love with it is the fact that you can enable pregnancy aging, set custom age spans and also enable aging for special sims that the game usually considers immortals (like agnes crumplbottom and baby ariel etc) love the episode so far by the way!

I'm really enjoying this series! Just a tip for the next episode, its easier to control the infant and ask for things (if the parent is spamming check infant instead of actually helping). The diaper pail will automatically collect the diapers from infants and toddlers on the changing table if its snapped together. It seems silly it doesnt work for newborns though.

Unless I'm wildly misremembering old games, I feel like how they handled aging during pregnancy in sims 4 is a step backwards. I Think (emphasiziing that cause i could v much be wrong) that in older games, they'd still age, and even age up if they were becoming an adult, but it prevented pregnancy in the days leading up to aging into an elder, to prevent any issues. (But I'm also pretty sure I heard tales of pregnant elders because of this, so i'd get it if they over-corrected.) Love this series! Especially the way you really think about their though process and perspective. The little insights into why they do things, it's really fun. ETA can i ask what packs you have/don't have for making families?

I think you're right about aging in older games. I could totally understand turning aging death off (like, if she still has 2 days to go but became hysterical, she couldn't die of laughter) or even turning off the ability to age up while she's pregnant, but just a blanket life extend while pregnant? That's a bit much, lol. Thank you so much for your compliment. I definitely don't want to glamorize the lifestyle, but even though I think it's over-all a hurtful thing I don't think that anyone starts out trying to get into something bad. Nobody thinks they're the villains of their own story. I think it's important never to lose sight of that. I have all the packs accept a couple of the kits (Modern Menswear and the Carnival kits). So feel free to any kit you want!

@@ErinPlaysSims I think, personally, your tone - especially with the onscreen text jokes - walks that line v well, and gets across that intent. It would be easy to make them into 2d caricatures for a quick laugh, but making something lasting requires that understanding and like, not sure if insidious is exactly the right word, but along that line, to actually make them compelling. Makes me really curious how sims excommunication is going to go down with the first rowdy teen xD (From family experience, it should make for good drama!)

Yh it is unrealistic that they dont age when they are pregnant, I agree with that, makes a lot of things weird, but I also understand why they did it like that, it could cause a lot of problems if your sim was pregnant and aged up to an elder for example, so while it is annoying, it also has a reason its like that but if you really dont want it you could technically use MCCC, there is an option to enable aging while pregnant. :) I know you said you didnt wanna cheat anything but it wouldnt really be cheating if you made Beths life shorter I think. :D

You're right, there's definitely good reasons for not aging Sims while pregnant. But, it gives me a reason to really take his aspiration seriously at least! Thank you for you're thought provoking question. We're rolling for sexuality so with having so many kids, odds are good they're going to have a child or two who is queer. There are something call Affirming Christians (I'm one) who do not regard being queer as a sin, but Beth and James's cult doesn't allow that. I refuse to have anything like conversion therapy in this series... But I would think that they would be scared for their queer child and it would lead to a whole bunch of unloving attitudes and actions. I think they believe that you CHOOSE to be gay so you can un-choose it. We'll have to see, though

Ah, I was hoping the only thing they didn't get from actual fundamentalists was the bigotry. It would have been interesting to see how a fundamentalist sect of followers of the Watcher would be if they had some of the traits but accepted BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ sims.

I completely understand. I think we'll see some of the kiddos forge their own paths and probably develop faiths the represent that. Although that's not the path the Josephs are taking, you are right that it would be interesting to see. I think eventually through the gens, we'll get there. I still want to keep it light, but the path I have laid out for them is that it's gonna get worse before it gets better. hopefully their kids and grandkids can do better by The Watcher than they did.
