The highlight of May was visiting an unusual Neolithic monument called the 'Cleaven Dyke'. You'll learn more about it in the video. The rest of the vlog consists of things my introverted self enjoys: beautiful sunsets and swaying trees, cute animals in the pet shop, river water running over stones, colourful flowers in Branklyn Gardens, pet-sitting Barney, the adorable border collie, some soothing and therapeutic nature moments. Enjoy the little glimpses of my life (and the history lesson)!

Really enjoyed Conor's research and insight into these historic sites. It came over really well. I was waiting to find a video of him sharing his subject. I was in my mid 20s when the Balfarg henge, riding school sight were excavated. Fife, is full of Pictish names and in particular Glenrothes with the precinct names, which were the names of the farms. Thanks.

Can't believe I didn't stumble upon this channel earlier, this is a gold mine for me! (If my username already does not make it obvious), I really love hillforts. Your videos are very relaxing and informative, I especially enjoy when it's all slow paced and attention is payed to details, with no noise or flashy images (maybe this is some INFJ thing). Keep up the great work!

Welcome! Much more to come in the future. 😁 If you have any recommendations for impressive hillforts, feel free to share! We enjoy walking around the forts and taking our time to discover all the little bits. It feeds my explorer soul. 😆

@@OnMistyMountains I understand that quite well! 😁 My region is full of hillforts, but I am waiting for drone to get some nice shots. Most of hillforts here are remains from Castellieri culture (Istria, Croatia). Sometimes I think it's impossible to find a hill without fort here, but some are quite lost under vegetation. Either way, can't wait to visit every single one of them!

I see! Is it Croatia you live in then? Sounds great. Maybe one day I'll explore hillforts in other countries and I'll get to compare. 😁

@@OnMistyMountains you should! From what I've seen, many are quite similar (at least visually) to those in Scotland. It would be interesting to compare. Yes, I live in Croatia. I actually specifically moved to Istria region just because it's number of hillforts 😆 Anyway, so happy I discovered this channel and looking forward to future videos! If you ever end up in Croatia, I can share some recommendations

Drive past this place a few times. The length of time is staggering. From what i understand though most of human history is one people replacing another so unlikely anyone living in scotland has any genetic link to the same people who built it. Correct?

There'll be some probably, but certainly not many. I suppose the more people get tested, the more likelihood there is for rare genetics to show up. With that said, the people who built this likely practiced cremation, which rarely yields enough DNA to test.
