Straighten Quads UV , a script by Nick Barre does this pretty much in one click, no cylindrical mapping required as long as you have your seam set you're good to go. Srongly suggest it as it makes life a lot easier , downside is that it only works on quad geo, but its super cheap and its been invaluable to me, especially great for doing hard surface decal work.

Hi friend, how are you? I have a proposal, a tutorial. But I would like to give you a book released in 2014 by CCP Games. This book is no longer available (in PDF format). The idea is to reproduce one of the assets of the game (interior of an apartment). There, techniques are used that mix inorganic modeling with organic modeling (rounded shape in ceiling corners, walls and floors). What do you think of the idea?
