I've been looking so long for a great tutorial/teacher for autodesk maya. I'm wanting to make my own animations, and all the tutorials I've watched have not been up to par! They are either too fast and confusing, or are too slow and long to follow completely (I hope that makes sense xD at least i know what I mean right?) Anyways! You have the best maya tutorials I have ever seen! This is the most helpful and easy to understand video I've found! You are my favourite youtuber now! And I am going to go an all-night vid watching spree learning everything I can from you. I mean, you made it so simple! basic shapes, simple sculpting, connecting and bridging! I understand now! @polydust1447 жыл бұрын
You might be right Marcus, but if you practice and make 2,3,4 bodies, the whole process is going to be way faster! Ultimately after a few years you will be able to create the whole character in 20 minutes or so :). And as predecessor said, rigging and weighting, especially the face region is so painful!
@MarcusJ9737 жыл бұрын
Polydust ohh wow.. time is of the essence and two to three years is a long stretch. but practice makes perfect I wish I started all this stuff when I was 20 years old, but now I'm 31 and hopefully finishing College in December with a bachelor degree and 3D animation. I'm working on making a space scene involved in my spaceship going around three planets. I need to make a character a spaceship ,a space scene three planets . im using Uranus, Saturn and Earth. I need to make a interior cockpit area of the spaceship also. this project would be my final project of my whole College curriculum and it's taking a very long. I basically have to look for tutorials on everything which are very very hard to find for my specific project . I basically have to make stuff up and how crappy it may look it will have to do . I have a full-time job, full time school it's just way too much to spend hours and hours on this project a few times a week and only getting very very little done if anything. the teachers asked if I made any progress I tell them I'm up for over 12 hours and go very little done. it just takes forever when you're learning from tutorials it's too much to ask for personal help you they would need to be there all day long with you. but I guess it is what it is and I have to deal with it and just keep doing it. I don't know how I'm going to pull off getting some type of internship in the summer without any major skills I'll just have to look at some good tutorials and make some things from there and hopefully get and internship to fill up on the college requirements.

At 5:17, you mention you use "insert edge loop" to add an edge ring to the chest when you're fixing the anatomy of the shoulder. But you don't, you use "connect components" on 3 specific edges to get the effect you see in the video. Using "insert edge loop" on those edges gets you a completely different result. I'm sure this is addressed in the extended cut version of this video, which admittedly, I haven't seen, and this tutorial is also 6 years old at this point, but I still felt it was worth pointing out for anybody looking at this tutorial today.
