hopefully you will see this comment --- I need help. Im following this tutorial and am up to the part where u extract the bottom faces at 6:00. But - when extracting all the individual faces become separate. But if i switch off separate faces in settings the entire thing stays as part of the main gun and doesnt extract. I separated them all and combined then back together but now it wont do the smooth mesh preview????

Wow, has it really been a decade since I started this channel? Big things have definitely changed for me. I still think about making videos but I'm not sure I have it in me anymore. Thanks for checking in, hope you are doing well yourself!

@@MethodJTV Im sure you still have it mate . From curiosity , are you still teaching 3d or in some cool game dev company ? And thank you for the borderlands texturing tutorial . My best guess is to focus on pixel art and voxel modeling as it seems is going to be the new norm for years to come.

Years back, I always thought that it was just their lighting that created that amazing look, but no, they treated their models like a visual novel and drew in practically all the details. The last few games may not be well received, but damn is their visual style, so damn stylised and well done, absolutely love it for models.

I did this tutorial around 2016 as a way to learn 3D modelling and Maya so I could one day work professionally as a 3D artist in the game industry. I would come home after work, and do this tutorial over and over again until I memorized every step and detail, sometimes until 1-2am. Then get up and head to the job-site for 8:00 PM, doing labor work. Now, It's 2023 and I've worked for small indie studios, Disney and now at a AAA game studio as a 3D technical & environment artist. I still use the techniques in this video to this day. Thank you.

Man, i really hope you come back and make a video for IK/FK rigging the arms and legs. Im incredibly stumped at the moment. Random problems with joints rotating when I parent to controls, or connect the IKs, especially when there are more joints between the IK than your standard 3. Could use your insight on this subject.
