so helpful! especially the question asked by @Westy down below about laying out the pistons in V shape (like V6 or V8).

Thanks for the kind words. I've been doing 3D computer animation for 30+ years. I was looking for a simple way to make pistons work. All the tutorials I found were complex. Once I figured out this way, I wanted to share it with others.

@@FlintBassman I love your video because it is focused on technical an not entertainment yet I am a new user I can even draw out the piston....I canning fusion 360 but not in blender or maya..pls recommend training videos for what you do and not fantasy...regards your new frien Deon South Africa

If you get a chance can you do this one more time, but this time like a locamotive where the turning shaft creates a horizontal motion? I would love to be able to make a choo choo, but this is the closest one I've seen to that.

Can you make a video explaining the differences, Pros and Cons between AIM constraints and ORIENT constraints....???
@skeeleart8 жыл бұрын
There are lots of videos talking about constraints. I'm just trying to make that are difficult to me, simple.
could you please give me any idea about the design of a rig for a crankshaft so as to balance it and allow it to spin
@skeeleart7 жыл бұрын
I just did some research on the internet of how to build the crankshaft model you see in my tutorial.

skeeleart thank you for the information I just need to know the design of the rig so it holds basically balance the crankshaft and allow it to spin

How would you go about rotating this on a 45 degree angle to create, say, a V8? Been struggling for days now
@FlintBassman7 жыл бұрын
That is a great question. I had the same problem. It is surprisingly simple once you figure it out. What I ended up doing is Grouping all the pistons, valves, spark plugs, etc. that will be rotated to the right. Then grouping all those that would be rotated to the left. Make sure the groups pivot point is in the center of the crankshaft. I'd rig each group straight up in Y just the way I show in the tutorial. Then rotate that group 45 degrees and DON'T freeze the transformations. Just leave that group at 45 degrees. Do the same with the other side. I will hide one side while working on the other. I hope this helps. I know it can be frustrating. Good Luck
@skeeleart5 жыл бұрын
I've actually done that. You create it just like I show you in the video. Then rotate the group 45 degrees and don't freeze the transforms. Sorry it took so long to respond.

Neat. You should give up the oil though, have you tried rehab? I think TESLA are going to start hosting Oil addiction Rehab workshops. MUSK, Where is Elon, I need to have a word with him.
