basics concept in every 3d software are almost the same just all the shortcuts and name of the tools are different all you need to make a long note of shortcuts and you can switch to any software in 2-3 days and you just won't be as quick as previous software .. buy still every software have there strength and weakness

Bro the thing that ull have to understand is that just because maya has something that doesn't mean it's better or even close to the things these industry level softwares have Eg blender can sculpt but can it handle as many polygons as z brush? Blender has retopology but is it as effective and quick as maya Blender has nodes But Houdini is not just nodes Blender is a general Store U can call it a dollar store which has a little bit of everything But these industry grade softwares, they are specialized showrooms

After switching to Maya from Blender, I can say Maya is lot better for modelling and uv's, but texturing and shading in maya is pain, Blender has really great node system for shaders, Maya's hypershade is little hard to use and doesn't have that many features, Animating a character is lot more faster in maya.

Thodi technical baat batahoo. Blender is a FOSS software suite and developed with th noble objective of promoting the 3D Contain Creation and its engineers dont work for making profit. Thus, their installation files are also clean and small, needs minimum basic hardware and is compatable across various other files, operating system and other softwares if necessary. Whereas Maya, 3DMax,... are profit makers commercial softwares. They want to sell other compatable propritory softwares and also hardwares... OS, GBU, Processors...thus it is tied-up with limits. When a new version comes the older versions programming code is not erased and hence these softwares are very heavy, in GBs. Thus, I would suggest to everyone, student or professional, always keep and work first with the FOSS softwares...Blender, GIMP, Krita, Inkskcape, Open Tooz,....!! However, the propritory softwares, have a very pleasing and userfriendly Interface and are more dedicated to some particular job. Thus, they ( inc. Maya) are more suitable for the specialists artists.
