Could we just get Unreal as a renderer in the Maya viewport instead?

That would be great, Maya is in such a need for a true modern real time renderer! That can handle stylized npr as well as PBR , I mean just look at blender Autodesk... please don't let Maya fall behind 😢

Weta digital has that. Worked on Alita Battle angel and was amazed to see how they were able to create a real-time viewport inside of maya. unfortunately autodesk decided not to buy the tech :(

Hi,I have some issue about Live Link 2.0. I am using MAYA 2023(also tested in 2022) and UE5.0.3.And I have already disable "Use less GPU when in back ground"and "Auto save"in UE5. But when I drag my object or the camera in the MAYA "View Panel" or "Channel Box",UE5 refreshes the display only when I release the mouse button. However,when I drag the key in the MAYA "Graph Editor" ,UE5 refreshes the display immediately. Is that something wrong about my MAYA setting?All those tutorial on youtube are synchro

I can't find the Maya Live Link plugin in the Unreal Engine store except for older 4.x versions. I am VERY confused about the entire process. When I try to install the plugin download from AutoDesk website I get No Unreal Engine Installation found error. I have the latest UE5.1 installed in default directory on my computer.

liveLink2.0 works ONLY on unreal 5.0. Not 5.1, 5.2 or 5.3. Even moving the plugin from 5.0 folder to 5.2 folder (this is what I did) doesn't work.

Why with "Unreal Live Link For Maya" in Unreal Engine, only keyframes are transferred, but the object does not appear?

Blendshapes show up in Unreal but do not update when I key them in Maya :( Edit: So I got it. Stupid that you can't have controllers for the blendshapes. Controllers are how most rigs are set up anyways, but noooooo we have to break the controllers and run straight from the ShapeEditor or ChannelBox which is a stupid workflow >:( something to fix in v2.2/v3!!!

Now drag the Sequence slider in UE5. Although Maya's slider is also moved, the animation of the character in UE5 is not refreshed

This is great! Can’t wait to check it out. Hey can you put a message on the old unreal live link for maya page linking to the new one?? Instead of just updating the old page (1.1.1), you kept it the same and created a separate one for 2.0.0 ???? 😂

I tried it. camera functionality is not working. the camera is not working with the live link controller. static objects are only visible when you animate them in Maya. is there any other way we can use camera live from maya to unreal? Is there something new in this version 2.1. could you please make a full tutorial on maya to unreal 5 live link with camera? live link functionality is not working neither the focal length is changing from maya to unreal live.

Everything worked for me except one detail. I can't get the keyframe data from Maya to Unreal. The camera and cube (the item I tested with) do move and update from Maya into Unreal. There seems to be some very real discrepancy in Maya to Unreal Camera's FoV accuracy. Though I can overlook that and tweak it later. What I can't seem to make work is when you do the connect part in the Live Link UI on the Maya side. Even when I tell it to create a new sequence it never is able to achieve handing the keyframes or animation data to Unreal. EDIT----- OK, I did get it to send to a sequence but I noticed that I have two sets of keyframes. One set of transforms for the camera instance and one set of transforms for the camera component. When I zero out the instance the camera is correct in the scene.. but.. when I scrub the timeline the camera is in the wrong position again. I want to remove the keys on top of the chain camera instance so that it stays at 0,0,0 so that the component will animate correctly. Sadly, I don't see these extra keyframes in the sequencer. Only the keys for the component.

Same problem. I can't run version 2 unfortunately. Maya 2022 still says "update available" on the plugin. I installed V2 of the plugin (with maya and unreal fully closed, on windows 10 pro), and it didn't prompt me to choose a version of Maya - is it perhaps installing to Maya 2020 which I also have on this machine? Or is it another problem? Do I have to change something inside Plug-in Manager?

If anyone finds this comment and has same problem, the issue is that for some reason the "UnrealLiveLinkForMaya-2.0.msi" doesn't replace older files properly when it installs. LOL. At least on my system (Windows 10 Pro). But luckily, that MSI is v good at uninstalling - so just run the MSI again and tell it to "uninstall". Then close that MSI installer tool. Then open up Maya and make sure that UNREAL LIVE LINK is not in the File menu. Now close Maya. Run the "UnrealLiveLinkForMaya-2.0.msi" and install. Choose the UE version you want etc and install it. Open Maya. NOW if you go to FILE > UNREAL LIVE LINK the tool will be the proper version. Ta-daaaa! :-) Hope that helps someone :-)

Are you sure you're clicking the Anim Sequence? Not the skeletal mesh?

can it stream mesh deformation? such as wrap, deltamush, cluster...

If you apply these deformations to your mesh via a blendshape (i.e. via the Shape Editor as shown in this video) then yes!

Animation curves? Are you sure you've connected the two objects properly and are looking at compatible attributes?

Anyone able to get MetaHumans working with the new version? I can get bodies working - although it’s very choppy playback. But faces don’t work anymore… :(
