I’m biologically female and this is extremely interesting. You’re awesome for being so comfortable talking about this! I’m sure it’s helping many people considering the same.
@adaaveryfiadhbogettiperez67163 жыл бұрын
hey, just wanted to note that it's generally kinder and more respectful (and more accurate) to make a distinction between "cis female" and "trans female" rather than "biologically female" and... "unnaturally/artificially female"? see what i mean? the implication of the second comparison is that we as trans women aren't really female, which we absolutely are.
@Davrainbow3 жыл бұрын
Hey yeah that makes tons of sense! Because you are biologically female, it’s just your body’s sex isn’t aligned with your gender hence the transition. If I’m understanding it right? However for myself, I don’t consider myself to be cisgender so I wouldn’t call myself that. Therefore I said biologically female as in I was born with female sex organs/anatomy, and I’m fascinated by how far surgery has come to give someone in the opposite position something close to what I was born with. Is there another term that could be used to say “I was born with female anatomy” that isn’t also including an identifier like cis? I appreciate your reply to me, it definitely helped me learn something!
@adaaveryfiadhbogettiperez67163 жыл бұрын
@@Davrainbow hi! thanks so much for your reply! :) sorry for the assumption, didn't realise you weren't cis! i would then recommend something like "afab" (assigned female at birth), if you feel like that fits you! there's other options though, and i don't want to tell you how to identify yourself, just wanted to provide a little perspective before!! as for your other question, i would say yeah, you're understanding right! many trans women do transition with hormones and surgeries in order to manifest female sex in our bodies, give ourselves "female biology", so to speak. many trans women don't choose to transition medically, though, and in my view they are still female, because they are women. i usually also like to point out that the way that modern colonial medicine assigns sex to bodies is not a perfect reflection of biological reality, but really an intersection between biology and ideology. so just because this society says someone with a penis, for example, must be male, it doesn't mean that's fully true! that's just this society's interpretation of the reality of the body. does that kind of make sense? it's hard to explain in a youtube comment lol, i could write (and am writing) whole books on this!!! i guess an example of this would be that i, as a trans woman, had hormone levels closer to a cis woman than a cis man, even before starting HRT, and this is a very common thing (more common actually among AFAB/transmasc people, though), so my body was biologically different from typical male bodies, but i was still lumped in with them because the ways this society measures sex weren't nuanced or advanced enough to catch that i was different.
@Davrainbow3 жыл бұрын
I can’t believe in all the research I’ve done on gender I didn’t realize that AFAB is the correct descriptor! Yes that absolutely applies to me. I don’t identify with my assigned gender at all, found that I’m more of a non-binary person than anything but I’m also not considering making any physical changes yet, so I didn’t want to put that label on myself, though I realize like you said, your identity is still valid even if you decide not to make any changes due to whatever the reasons may be. Thank you for reminding about that! That’s extremely interesting as well. I’m glad you were so cool about this and explained it 😊 I hope that your journey is going well, too.

Thanks for sharing your progress with us! On a side note though, you might wanna look into using Bromelain (a pineapple enzyme, sold as an OTC supplement) to speed up your recovery process (it significantly speeds up wound/cut healing times, as well as reduces inflammation) and is typically taken 3 to 4 times a day on an empty stomach (1x500mg at a time) I've taken it quite a few times before for various injuries and it definitely makes a huge difference! Without it, things just heal very slowly.

The drain that I saw from when you were in the hospital is known as a JP drain (Jackson Pratt drain). They are used in many different surgeries. (I am a Registered Nurse, Retired now. ) Thanks again for all the open and honest talk. You are amazing and so beautiful inside and out. God bless and I hope the rest of your recovery goes well.

So exciting to see that you're on the path to feeling more yourself! I'm so glad that we have doctors who can perform these surgeries to help people feel more comfortable in their bodies! Love you! Keep healing and staying safe!

I am so glad that this is working out well for you. It is nice for any person to have the physical presence that can accommodate what they wish to achieve in life. In a way it is unfortunate that you have had to take such a long journey to get to where you are today. Although as viewers to your channel we gain the benefit, of your observations and what you have shared with us. Thank you for your perspective and wisdom. As a person who has had the privilege of being born with and benefiting maturation in a physical manifestation of my gender aspirations etc, you sharing your experiences with me has helped me gain perspective and respect for those who have taken your path. Best wishes and thank you for sharing

I’m 34 days postop, and I resonate so much with the self-consciousness part about my previous anatomy. It’s such a freedom to be accepting of one’s own body.

Thank you so much for sharing all of these updates Maya, I have been watching and waiting with anticipation for the videos you've been posting pre and post surgery. My surgery with Dr Brassard was 7 days ago! I can't believe that it has been done, it feels surreal and my entire time at the convalescent home also feels surreal. Everything is awake you have to wait all this time for this and then all this time for that and now it's one week past I don't understand how that is even happened and I'm still wondering if it's all real. But trying to get up or sit down and reminds me that it's all real. So with you being about 7 weeks ahead of me I love learning what I have to look forward to. I do have the rest of my life to look forward to and that's pretty amazing.

I need to take this moment not only to say I’m happy for you but also to compliment you and other trans content creators on spreading so much information out there I recently realized I know so much about the trans community and health aspects (much more than the average person) just from supporting trans creators, and that warms my heart Recently I was able to explain clearly to my mother what gender dysphoria is, and I don’t think I could’ve done it respectfully and confidently without you 💛 always spread the word and always be this glowing person you’ve always been Here forever and always, happy holidays from Brazil! 💛
