I think even just using the mercedes badge would have made it more popular that thing has become insanely mainstream. people can't flex in them because majority of people don't know what it is, but if it has the mercedes logo even if it's a c class or something everyone is just like oh look a mercedes cool

@@lisafan6365 I think anyone who knows cars and specially rich people back then did know what a Maybach is. Youre underestimating the brandname I think. Though there still has to be some reason for it to have not sold as many units. Most that Ive heard said that it was too close to a Mercedes and therefore not special enough so that would be exactly opposite of what you guessed.

@@lisafan6365 I dooooont really think so. The Mercedes woudlve downgraded it even more. As I said, most people already thought it was too much of a pumped up s class anyways without it even being a Mercedes. Well mate, I think we'll never fully aknowledge why it failed.
