The biggest question is why is there no HX3D + 5090 combo laptops out there? There is only up to a 5070ti and not even a 5080 combo, which is very, very strange and with almost all companies. **UPDATE** What's funny is that videocardz just dropped an article that a chinese off-brand laptop company is doing this combo but here we are with nothing but disappointment.

got my 6750Xt here. the 7900XT would be an immense upgrade already, by roughly 70-85%. If the 9070XT is on par with the XTX, oh boy. I wouldnt even think twice. Not to mention, that the 9070XT seems to be already the better card compared to the 5070Ti or stuff, as the raw power it provides is much bigger, especially for people like me, that prefer gaming without render software in the background like DLSS or FSR. And since the 5090 has less processing cores and more CUDA and stuff, it is actually weaker than the 4090 and relies 90% on DLSS for it to make things work. I am not even looking at NV this time, AMD already seems to be the MUCH stronger candidate here.

I wonder how long nvidia’s “4090 performance” tactic will work once ppl buy one, turn on DLSS 4, just to say “why does my game feel laggy I’m getting 120fps” only to research what DLSS is and learn they’re actually playing at 30fps. It’s genuinely shocking how throughout the whole 50 series part of the speech NOT ONCE was rasterizaiton or traditional performance mentioned. Literally everything was about machine learning.

Benchmark was likely flawed, if they didn't restart the game after changing settings to "extreme" the benchmark could have been running at medium or low settings. I'll get excited when the third party benchmarks show the same.

in this video they talk about how the benchmark score is lower than expected due to driver issues. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqO1lIZ_r99nqdU&ab_channel=RedGamingTech amd is know for bugs in graphics drivers yes but nowdays its really good. i would say that amd pushed off the gpu at ces because they knew they can't compete with nvidia with a half baked gpu. as we can see the driver is 2024 12 30 as i remember. that could be the only driver that is stable but with a [performance hit] for rdna4 i think amd also uses the chiplet design for the gpu die makign the normal cores even faster they will reach well above 3 ghz also while they are pushing high clock on cores on chip memory will not be bound to the core speeds. (and the bigger difference in core speed and memory will introduce latency) [it's time for 3D v.cache for gpus...]

For reference, 7900 XTX does ~89 FPS at 4k Extreme benchmark pre-set, so 9070 is ~11% faster. If we can expect that kind improvement across the board, then 9070 should be only ~2.5% percent slower than 4090.

At least on COD. AMD RX6800 owner here, and it performs better than NVIDIA in any COD game I've played. In most other games, it'll probably still be at the 7900xt level of performance. But we will see

Because VCache not only significantly increases the cost of a chip, it's of very minimal benefit for *most* things you do with a PC. The large majority of applications and uses do NOT find 3Dcache at all a benefit. I don't really want to have to pay for stuff I don't need.

With regard to latency issues, I think we need to see, real world, how reflex 2.0 works. Gamers, in particular highly competitive gamers, are definitely willing to put up with minor artifacts if it equals more raw performance. If reflex 2.0 and DLSS 4 together, MFG or no MFG, can reduce the latency in rendering accurately, this could actually make a big difference, or it could be worthless. Reflex 2.0 could actually make 4k and 8k mouse polling a massive advantage at high levels of play. Or it could suck and you still have monstrous performance. I think people are losing sight of the fact that these cards are still already rasterization monsters, and can max out the display tech that is currently available.

I live in the North, and it frequently get very cold outside. My desk sits right next to a window, with my PC basically being right in front of it. As long as it's not precipitating, is it safe to open my window and let the cold air blow through my PC? Do you think this will help lower temps?

The colder your ambient temperature is, the cooler your PC should run. But when you open the window it will also make your room colder. So it might not be worth it for you, for a few degrees, unless you are literally using the PC in a sweat lodge.

Personally I wouldn't risk it, extra moisture from outside might cause parts to rust or something. Even if they don't, you'd be making your roon a lot colder too. Having the PC next to the window already helps keep it cool because windows don't provide as much insulation as a properly insulated wall.

Frank Azor, who has Cuban heritage, conducted both interviews entirely in Spanish. He mentioned that AMD learned from RDNA 2 and 3 that, in their current position as a company, it is not viable to produce $1,000 GPUs. They understand that customers spending over $1,000 expect a complete package, including additional features, which Nvidia currently excels at. When AMD launched the 7800 XT and 7900 GRE, which were aggressive performance/price cards in the mid-range segment, they were well-received and sold successfully. This is why AMD has temporarily stepped back from the high-end market. Azor emphasized that there is nothing wrong with the current GPUs-the performance is as planned, production is on track, and there are no delays. However, Nvidia remains their biggest competitor, holding almost 90% of the market share. For AMD, it is more strategic to wait and adjust their pricing based on Nvidia's moves. Azor also explained that, due to the limited 45-minute presentation time, many topics had to be left out, such as Z2 APUs and other gaming CPUs. He clarified that introducing a new architecture, like RDNA4, requires significantly more time to explain properly. This includes detailing what has changed, why they are now focusing on ray tracing (which has become essential for modern games, whereas it was previously optional), and why they had to enhance AI capabilities (to enable AI-based upscaling, leading to FSR4). Explaining all of this and showcasing it was impossible in such a short time frame. This is why RDNA4 was not mentioned during the presentation. Instead, AMD plans to hold a dedicated event where they will provide all the details, including pricing, performance, and the release date.

I bought myself a new case for my pc a month ago. Got a Thermaltake mucha green case and it is great!! The color is similar to the avocado green a lot of appliances came in during the 70's. We picked up 2 of those 8BitDo Ultimate 2C controllers for our toddlers for Christmas. I was so blown away by the quality of the TMR sticks that i picked up a GameSir Cyclone 2 for myself. Hi Brett Loving your videos, just note that with the 16 core CPU's you would still need to park the cores even with both having 3D Vcache, the issue is when you spread out the load across two CCD's you take a significant latency penalty since cores will need to communicate back and forth over the infinity fabric, which may even take away the benefit of having the cache in the first place or worse. The only way to overcome this in theory would be to create a unified 128MB cache available to both CCDS without traversing over the infinity fabric though that probably has its own technical challenges and at some point simply having more cache might not really give you a benefit. There is simply no reason for AMD to release this unless they can unify the cache for both CCD's or somehow overcome the inter CCD latency penalty. Respond to my comment, I dare you (XD), jokes aside this is my two cents and though its only my own educated speculation it still makes sense with the knowledge of how AMD's chiplets has been working since Ryzen 3000.

With the flip of the cache location, there isn't a huge clock speed regression anymore. The X3D CCD can easily be the faster of the two CCDs and therefore the default for everything - thus eliminating scheduling issues related to should I use the cache chip or not. The should I use only one instead of both could still be an issue, but that would exist on all multi CCD CPUs.

Simple fix to the core parking problem, make sure the AMD chipset drivers are installed and up to date and then go into bios and pick "prefer Driver" ..you don't even need windows game bar.

9950X3D having significantly more 3D V-Cache compared to the 9800X3D's. Despite having less cache, the 9800X3D will perform better in gaming scenarios due to its simpler design with the 3D cache distributed across all cores on a single CCD, while the 9950X3D has a dual CCD design with only one CCD benefiting from the stacked cache.

Are EVGA peripherals any good? I've bought a "good" keyboard which looked like a steal but it very quickly broke and keys just stopped working. I dont know if the mouses are any better

AMD has a history of naming their products in a way that compares what they are selling to what the other (Intel in the past) was selling. It allows the a consumer to think "this must be similar to performance to ... ", and then decide based on price. I think the new naming scheme was a good idea. If they don't have a "9090" series then we won't compare it to a 5090. This was years ago the last time they did this, though.

Bret you are absolutely right in your assessment of the 3d v-chache and why amd should do it. Its a quality of life improvement. Its not about benefiting games. It's about making it easier for users. Also, it's not like people expect the additional 3d vchache to be free. If they can provide it at a reasonable price we will buy it.

I am 100% choosing a 12VHPWR connector instead of a triple 8-pin connector. I’ve never had any issues with my GPUs using the older 12VHPWR connector, and if the rumors are true that the 9070XT will only use around 350 watts of power, there’s nothing to worry about. Just don’t tell Nvidia

Im either getting a 9070, 9070XT or a 5070 ti... 16gb vram is a must if i want to keep that GPU for at least 5 years. Now its just a question of how much raw performance i can really get out of them :)
