18:23 For those wondering why he was immune, Dark types are immune to status moves (moves that don't do damage) that gain priority as a result of the ability Trickster (Liepard's ability). The ability Trickster makes status moves (almost) always go first.

Don't underestimate moves that have neutral effectiveness. Also moves that have the same type as the Pokemon that use them get a damage bonus I think it's 1.5x

Ok let me establish my credibility here; I used to be 1900 rated in randoms in gen 8 before I realized it sucks ass and moved to other formats. Here’s some advice: 1. It’s good that you’re using /weakness. It’s a very useful command and if you’re not sure of something’s weaknesses, USE IT. 2. One of the most crazy useful commands in Showdown is /dt. /dt lets you look up info about anything, whether it’s moves, abilities, items. 3. /randbats lets you see what moves certain Pokémon might be running. Out of the listed moves, the opposing Mon will be running 4.

In Minute 18 when the Liepard used Thunder Wave Zoroark is immune because the Liepard has the ability prankster (This Pokemon's Status moves have priority raised by 1, but Dark types are immune.) and since Thunder Wave is a Status Move your Dark Type Pokemon is immune / in case anyone wants to know :D

18:02 tldr dark type are immune to the moves affected by prankster. Long story: liepard has an ability called prankster that gives *priority to non-attack moves. Those moves affected by prankster are not effective against dark types. The theme of dark types is that they are sinister and tricky themselves, thus being immune to pranks. Dark type in Japanese is better translated to evil or bad type. Thunder wave is a move that paralyzes your opponent, but does no damage. It was given priority +1 to act first due to the ability prankster. Normally zoroark is not immune to the attack, but since it was used by a prankster mon and zoroark himself is a dark type it is immune. Any dark type in this position would be immune as well. *priority supersedes the speed stat. If a move has +1 priority it acts before the opposing regardless of how slow the user is or how fast the opponent are. However, there are still tiers with priority moves and speed will define which priority moves goes first. Ie: Quick attack has a priority of +1 and extremespeed has a priority of +2.

not immediately no, the meta had to stabilize before we could understand how it was centralizing the meta toward seismitoad. which also walled melmetal and cinderace they both had to be banned so seismitoad wouldn't be that big of a mainstay and let rain run rampant, before dracovish finally got to show his power where he isn't walled by every second team but after rain started to show its power and toad stopped handling the meta so well, that's when draco power ran wild

for someone that plays chess nl hasnt really gotten the concept oftrading in this game yet. in the game where be kept using max darkness and hard reading that his opponent will switch when they really have no incentive to swap out an already hurt mon to get hit by a dynamaxed move when they were two pokemon and a dynamax up.

im sure others have mentioned this but all pokemon get 85 evs and neutral nature, all pokemon effectively have their max stat so only compare each pokemons max stat edit - to see your max speed stat hover over your pokemon under your character not the ones under your moves

They didn't have anything better to switch out to, his whole team was weak to ground or fragile (Liepard, Keldeo who you'd want to keep healthy because powerhouse and fragile). At that point I'd just sacrifice Steelix and try to do some damage but maybe they wanted to keep Steelix alive because it has Dragon Dance and they deemed Carracosta less valuable.
