So, I'm a full on Harvey simp. I fully understand disliking him! I like him because is a caretaker. His dialogue when you're married? I die. My IRL husband is someone who takes care of me. Makes sure I eat and take my meds when I forget. Listens and doesn't judge when I go on emotional tirades. When he's off for the summer, sandwiches just appear in front of me at lunch time! (He's a teacher, I WFH). Sometimes, when I'm overwhelmed and upset and can't explain, I say "I have too many emotions" as an explanation, and he just takes care of me. He's neurotypical, the bastard, so everything comes a little easier to him. He is the steady solid rock in the torrential river of my mental health. So, Harvey is my steady rock in Stardew. He makes sure you eat, he is both interested and concerned about your activities. He is my sweet, nerdy, cinnamon roll. He's the kind of husband who makes sure you always wake up to a fresh cup of coffee on your nightstand. He'd give you massages when you're sore from farm work. I could totally see us doing jigsaw puzzles on a rainy Saturday. Now, if only Harvey looked like Henry Cavill, we'd be all set. Also ConcernedApe won't let Sandy step on my neck :(

My very first Stardew Valley spouse was Harvey! Lol I totally respect the dislike for him, I can see how he would be perceived as off putting. I think I liked him better than Alex or Shane because they seemed super masculine and off putting (at the time), and both Sam and Sebastian seemed very high school to me and I didn't want to actually marry them. I don't know why at the time I didn't marry one of the girls, but for some reason I found both Harvey and Elliot very charming, but Elliot had more complicated gifts. I think Harvey just felt very safe, like a sweet nerdy guy like Milo from Treasure Planet, which I found endearing. However, six years later I am a Haley stan for life.

I like the fact that he's basically some silly high school jock, as well as his toxic masculinity cracking through to show his more soft side as you get closer to him Just.. don't romance him as a girl 😭 his story is MUCH more empactful if you're a guy player

My thought process on choosing Harvey was essentially process of elimination. I didn’t want to date Sebastian, Alex or Sam because they all live with their parents or grandparents. In my mind, that makes them teenagers and flirting with a teenager made me feel like a creep. Elliott is too pretentious and Shane was a dickhead (at least at first). That left Harvey. Once you start dating him, he’s actually really sweet. His ten heart event is adorable! He’s a good husband too. (Also, my boyfriend wears round glasses like Harvey, so I’m guessing that was subconsciously part of my decision).

As a Harvey lover: I work in healthcare and am autistic. I love how he has no idea how to be charismatic and talks about his job exclusively because that is very relatable.
