A Piper PA-28, registration N4351T, was enroute to KSAC Sacramento Executive Airport among a group flight via KCCR Concord Buchanan Field when about 10-15 miles out experienced an engine failure, resulting in an off airport landing in a field adjacent to the SAC VOR. Emergency services mentioned the possibility of an oil fire on board.

I was the controller. Pilot handled it like an absolute pro. I had no alternate airports to suggest, she did a great job finding a place to put it. I mentioned the possibility of an oil fire as it was an engine failure. Anytime you have hot oil on a hot day in a grassy field, fire is a concern.

Good job with minimum commo/distraction. We are busy aviating with less time when lower. Day VFR should be a non-event. Nine here with a couple damaged Ag planes. Six second deals with no time to talk.
