MAYDAY!! (No Emergency-- Just Flying Supercap Free Flights on May 1st!)

Breezy First Day of May at the local (very small) field. Lots of supercapacitor flights including 4 brand new ships which Richie maidened! Towards the end of the session we get a look at Mike's little Cessna Skylane, R/C version!. It's the same size as our capacitor free flight versions, it even weighs the same at 41g.

So good to see you guys back on the field. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy watching Richie running around after those little planes! I was an Air Cadet in the UK and we flew the Chipmunk as a trainer. No retractable gear and so much fun to fly.

Great to see Sonex413 with Mike and Richie back on the air! Both Skylanes were top notch and Richie's dihedral mods reminded me of some old school free flight models I've seen like the Swoose (gull wing), which might make a nice future project.

@@thebalsaboy We have used them all but mostly prefer white glue for foam to foam joints, and epoxy for mixed materials.

Hey, guys I am sure glad to see you back. I built alot of planes because of you guys. i'm an old retired vet' not much money' but having fun. I am trying to build a little remote plane useing 8520 motors. Can you tell me some of props, electronics, and anything else to use? I do think I could hangout with you two. Thanks

On my little r/c Skylane I used exacly the same motor and prop as the capacitor free flight one. (8520 motor and 65mm prop). I used a one cell 150ma lipo which gives me 3 to 4 minute flights. Radio is a micro brick all in one similar to what eflite puts in their ready to fly planes.
