LYRICS:
And we both go down together
We'd stay there forever
Just try to get up
And i'm sorry
This wasn't easy
When i asked you, believe me
And never let go
Well i'm thinking of the worst things
That i could say to you
But a promise doesn't mean a thing anymore
And this never will be right with me
And now you're trying to desperately
But i'm tongue tied and terrified of what i'll say
And then we both go down together
We may stay there forever
I'll just try to get up
And i'm sorry
This wasn't easy
When i asked you, believe me
You never let go
But i let go
I could only sing you sad songs
And you could sing along
And you could see the melody
That's been calling out your wrongs
And this never will be right with me
And now you're trying to desperately
But i'm tongue tied and terrified of what i'll say
But i never told you everything
I'm losing hope and fading dreams
And every single memory along the way
And then we both go down together
We may stay there forever
I'll just try to get up
And i'm sorry
This wasn't easy
When i asked you, believe me
You never let go
But i let go
And we both go down together
And stay there forever
Just try to get up
And then we both go down together
We may stay there forever
I'll just try to get up
And i'm sorry
This wasn't easy
When i asked you, believe me
You never let go
But i let go

If you asked 13 year old me what this sing was about, I would have said that it was about a romantic relationship gone wrong. If you ask the current 21 year old me, I have to say its about two friends from childhood who stayed together as friends into their late twenties who ended up in their own relationships and all too late recognized their feelings for each other. But by that point they also had feelings for their respective significant others and so they cant be with each other and decide to be ok with their relationship as it stands, even if it hurts. Or maybe it's 2am and I've had too much sugar

See to me it's about a couple, like high-school sweethearts, growing apart. One is trying desperately to do anything to make it better, but the other person is afraid of who they will become or what the would do if they stayed.

Omg I’m 23 years old. But this is exactly me for the last 4 years and with my ex that I dated for 3.5 years and we broke up 4 years ago. And your situation perfectly explains my situation Me and her have been in for the last 4 years 😥🥺😥 it’s really the worst pain. She was my first love and the only girl I ever loved. And tbh she will most likely be the only girl I ever love. I’ll never love a girl as much as her and I’ll never stop. And I know she feels the same way😥 she has been in 2 relationships since we broke up tho. The first one she was in was verbally abusive to her and controlled everything she did and the friends she had. And that guy also have threatened my life. And now she’s in a second relationship with someone that doesn’t abuse her but his life style is probably gonna get her killed one way or another if she’s not careful… and it sucks cuz I know she still got feelings for me.. she has been my best friend since I was 17 and she was 14 when I first met her in High school. We have stayed really close to this day and we both have so much love and feelings and some confusing feelings for each other.. But at the end of the day if she ever needs someone to vent to or someone to be there for her and help her through anything. Im the first person she calls. And no matter what I’m doing I’ll drop everything I’m doing to answer her calls and to go see her and make her feel better as much as I can. I’ve always been her go to shoulder to lean on and to cry on. She doesn’t even have a good family at all and she never could rely on her family. And she tells me all the time that nobody loves, cares and is as reliable for her as much as I am… Right now I’m 23 years old like I said and she’s 20 for just 3 more months. But no matter what tho, I would DIE for her period. I’d take any bullet for her, I’d fight any fight for her. And I will protect her with everything that I’ve got until the day that I leave this earth and fall asleep forever. But OMFG, I’m so sorry this comment is so fuckin long… I didn’t even realize it was this long until now… but if you read this comment and actually read it this far, Thank you so much for actually listening and I appreciate it way more than you possibly could know. But I’m so sorry if it bothers you.. But I hope you stay strong and find what ever happiness that your looking for in your life bcuz everyone deserves happiness (Unless that person is a piece of shit that abuses or takes advantage of people sexually or verbally or physically of course.. than at that point those type of people only deserve the worst type of misery and pain) Much love and Respect sent your way🙏🏻 but if you do for what ever reason happen to read it this far if you can please comment or atleast just like this comment or something🙂 Thanks! Have a Great Day or Night, what ever time of day it is were your from When Ever Or If Ever you read this comment and read the whole comment🙂💛

I’m so sorry for your loss! This was probably the way your friend was letting you know they’re still with you as your guardian angel 😔If only this band knew how many people they’ve touched with their music. How many broken hearts they’ve help to mend or memories with friends they’ve been apart of making.

They didn't save your life, you did well on your own. I think it's an important thing to realize. No entertainer/celebrity/band "saved your life", YOU did. Music/entertainers help distract you yeah sure, but you're the one who made the decision and put the effort towards changing/improving yourself. Give yourself the credit you deserve. You're a hero, you saved yourself and you deserve every ounce of credit for being so brave and strong!

Understandable. I started listening to them when I was 16. 31 now. But only this album , to me anyway, is best. Derrick isn't as good without Jason. Go Radio is Jason's new band (Obviously not a new band now but regardless) and I have to say, it takes top of the list for me Give it a listen. "I Won't Lie" is a really good one from their first album.

i've never known wtf to call mayday parade. they call themselves alternative rock, which is super vague. emo as a genre existed as whatever Rites of Spring was doing in the 80s, and turned into screamo i guess. up until recently, growing up during the 90s and 2000s no one classified patd/mcr/etc as emo, because emo was like.. post-punk emotional screaming. idk when we finally decided emo music was what emo-looking kids were listening to. during mayday parade's peak, the 'emo' kids i knew were listening to shit like underoath and hawthorne heights and didn't like mayday parade, and the people listening to pop punk like.. all time low and metro station didn't either. it's always been in a weird place. it was music for me and like 3 other sad losers at my school, lmao

A friend of mine that passed away brought me here. She introduced me to Mayday Parade and now all these songs are just a reminder of what I have lost: A friend. We didn't got along at some point when she was at her worst. My biggest mistake was leaving because I thought it was for the best of us. Years passed we had no contact with each other and news reached me she died by suicide. I couldn't gather the strength to see her family during the wake and just stood from afar without having the chance to see her one last time.

I seriously think albums like this one and Go Radio's Close the Distance should start a new trend of older albums making a comeback and becoming chart topping albums. Even though both of those bands had a sizeable following they were still MASSIVELY underrated by the industry as a whole. This could have been a #1 hit along with probably 3 or 4 other tracks on the same damn album. Even all these years later this is still one of my favorite albums of all time. People used to go nuts when my band would cover Jamie All Over as an encore. Mayday should have been 10 or 20x bigger than they are. Go Radio too.

If you ask me, It's about a one sided relationship, one is always receiving and other always giving without nothing in return. Still holding to that stupid feeling called love. Surely the most terrifiying curse of all.

This song was given to me by the man I really loved the most, I just didn't listen to it directly as the time he give me the song, If I knew this was his message, then it would never a question for leaving me behind without explaining. I hope your happy now with your girl. And i'm sorry this wasn't easy when I ask you believed me, You know I never let go, but you let go.
